Prescription co-pay question

I was unsure whether or not to put this in GQ, but I guess I’m asking for personal experiences, so…

One of my medications is prescribed to me at 225mgs. Unfortunately, they only manufacture it in 34.5, 75, and 150mg capsules, which means I have to have two separate scrips, one for (1) 150mg capsule daily, and one for (1) 75mg capsule daily. Which means two separate co-pays. I know I could just call my insurance company, but it’s after hours and this just occurred to me. Also, I’ve never called this company for anything before, and I don’t want to feel ridiculous if I’m just dreaming, here, but is it possible that they would waive one of the co-pays, in this situation? Can they do that?

Can you get your doctor to write the scrip for 3 75-mg capsules daily?

Hm, I hadn’t thought of that. I suppose I’d have to do the math and see how much the co-pay would end up being, with me having to get the one scrip filled so frequently.

If he writes the scrip for 3 daily, then won’t they give you enough to last the usual amount of time?

:smack: Would you believe I work in a drugstore? Not the pharmacy part, thank god, although I am (technically) a licensed pharmacy technician.
