My 5 year old just went to her best friend’s birthday party and the gift we gave was an “Operation” game and batteries. The kid loved it.

Another one that the kids in my life have enjoyed has been Ranger Rick. 'Course, a couple of them are a bit on the crunchy side.
Lego’s are offend over looked but are great for girls. Jump ropes lots of fun. A kids camera (unless it has another kid to go to go cheap she’ll out grow it in 2 or 3 years anyways), take her to Clairs in the mall ( or as we like to call it little girl heaven) Wall stickers. Books. oddly art book my daughter has one of unicorn and one about fairy showing how different artiste of depicted them even though the are not kid books per-say she will look at them for hour making up stories about the pictures.
The Littlest Briston turns six in two weeks – top of the list is a MobiGo (pink, natch).
I strongly recommend the card game Sleeping Queens. It’s a huge hit with both of my daughters (currently ages 4 and 6). It’s about $10. It’s a fun game with great artwork that sneaks in some math practice too!
We’re off to Toys R Us on Saturday…
I took my niece and nephews to Toys R Us a few years ago. I’m not sure which of us had the most fun. Man, toys have come a long way since the 1970s.
Oh, I forgot, if you go for dress up clothes, Fancy Nancy books definately need to accompany them!
