President Baghdad Bob

It turns out that the national security leaders in America believe pretty much the opposite of what our lying bastard propaganda vomitter in chiefs claims to believe.

“Point by point, the country’s top intelligence leaders demolished some of the key national security claims Trump has made since he took office.”

To support this turdknuckle requires a belief in bullshit. If it suits you.

I started a thread a couple weeks ago about the potential suitability of Capt. Chesley Sullenberger as a Presidential candidate. While Dopers like Sully they mostly replied that they would rather he stick to flying airplanes and leave politics to politicians as we have seen ample evidence that amateurs in the political arena do not benefit in any way, shape or form from their lack of experience.

The title of your thread had me wondering if you were suggesting Baghdad Bob as a potential candidate, to which I would suggest he would be better as a replacement for Sarah Huckabee Sanders. He could fearlessly claim that Trump’s wall was already built and that Mexicans were committing suicide on it.

Regarding the OP, Trump’s “truth” bears no relation to actual truth and this is not a bug, it’s a feature. Trump stumbled into the realization that one’s own definition of truth can be weaponized and that if you don’t like what your opponents are saying about you all you have to do is lie with confidence. Baghdad Bob was an evident inspiration.

And in a stunning, completely unexpected, and simply gobsmacking development, Trump says his intel people aren’t as smart or as well-informed as he is:

The “Rocket” test he referred to was a peaceful space launch vehicle that failed to reach orbit. (Perhaps that is what he means by “coming very close to the edge,” as in, the rocket came close to the edge of space before making an unplanned diversion to Earth.)

From the OP’s cite:

“Perhaps most strikingly, in hours of discussion of security threats, the intelligence chiefs did not once mention the need for a wall along the southern border, which Trump has portrayed as the single most pressing need facing the country.”

But sure, declare it a national emergency, you delusional shitsack.

8 years of having a black guy with an ethnic name (who they suspected was a muslim) as president drove the white christians in this country insane.

This period of American politics will be studied for centuries.

Our Fool of a President is now trying to claim the testimony of his intelligence officials that was broadcast live on television was “mischaracterized” and “fake news”.

How much of a dumbass would someone have to be to believe this nonsense? They said it on camera. Live. No edits.

Trump has built up the military. Quick question, didn’t the National security people claim Iraq had WMD’s? Your thoughts at the time where what? Why believe the same group of people now?

Since we were not in the room, you can only speculate as to what Trump heard.

What nation might be hurting USA citizens the most? In 2015 illegal immigrants were convicted of 51 homicides in the state of Texas. Not that I’m blaming the Mexican government, but I’d say this is a war Trump needs to solve. Just one state and a year were listed. Extrapolated over ten years for the naiton, you are probably talking about ( interest your best guess ) amount of people murdered. And I’m not even counting robbery, assault, drug problems, or human trafficking. It sounds like border security is more of a defined threat than most realize.

Cite? Not that I expect shit.

The Bush White House lied about the presence of WMD to justify the war.

What substantial increase in military capability has there been since the first budget passed by the Trump administration?

We know what they said to Congress, which directly conflicts with many of the things Trump has said. Also, Trump makes inaccurate statements (and lies) nearly every time he speaks.

The USA, and it’s not even close. And the poor and incompetent decisions of our racist, groper president are leading the way.

Thanks for the morning laugh! Spot on.

So you’re saying the heads of our national intelligence agencies are engaging in a conspiracy to utterly ignore this massive threat from south of the border?

Well, I hear they’re passive and naive.

That was Trump’s first reaction. He now proudly lies that everyone is on the same page.

So we are back to believing what head spooks say to congress? Cool.

In a credibility contest between anyone alive and Trump, Trump loses.

Not to forgive intelligence shenanigans in the lead-up to Iraq, but in that case the agencies were encouraged to berry-pick information about an unambiguously hostile regime that would support the administration’s narrative. That they played along was shameful.

In this case, Trump is asking us to believe the agencies are either completely oblivious to or conspiring to suppress evidence of a massive security threat right on our border. As Procrustus says, the credibility gap does not favor the President.

Fortunately i can disbelieve Trump and spooks.

Care to be specific about who you think the “spooks” are? I see you were able to name Trump, who are the others?
