Make up your mind. Did Obama do it singlehandedly, or with our help?
So he’s an idiotic, unpatriotic liar.
Actually, lefties don’t like Obama. (But will vote for him anyway.)
That is much more than sufficient. And Romney, for his part, is better than Paul; at least he’s not an anti-Fed goldbug crank.
Obama ain’t even part of it.
The fact that morons like WF think Obama’s even remotely populist or progressive is the scary thing. The stupid is strong with this group. Makes me wonder how they figured out fucking. I know they did, because Repubs and Paulites are out to do nothing but fuck America.
He’ll need one of the joint chiefs to turn the other key if he wants to nuke it from orbit.
That’s all the justification a rational voter needs.
That only demonstrates that Lincoln was a white supremacist in 1858, before he’d met Frederick Douglass and before he’d authorized the USCT.
Incidentally, if anyone else is confused by BrianGlutton’s characterization of the The New Party as not Marxist, you were probably, like me, thinking of the New Alliance Party.
Thanks, that was bothering me a bit, but I couldn’t quite parse why.
Oh, so some of his best friends were black… ![]()
But seriously, I’d be interested to see any quotes from Lincoln that would indicate he changed his mind about blacks being inferior. Had he ever explicitly rejected that view to your knowledge? He certainly could still make the USCT and even consider Douglass a friend and still think whites were superior.
FWIW, I’m not judging Lincoln for this, he was simply a man of his times.
The best source on this is What Lincoln Believed: The Values and Convictions of America’s Greatest President, by Michael Lind. Like most white Americans of his time – in fact, like most white abolitionists of his time – Lincoln believed blacks were too inferior, or at any rate too different, to live as free people in the same republic as whites; however, he did believe they were capable of forming and running democratic governments of their own. Therefore, Lincoln was a “colonizationist” – he believed the blacks should be freed, and then all of them should be deported, to a new homeland in Africa (like Liberia) or Latin America or the Caribbean. He changed his mind about this near the end of his life, after General McClellan studied the problem and reported that drafting all American naval and merchant ships for the purpose still would not get the blacks overseas “half so fast as Negro children will be born here.” (In the same book, you can also read about Lincoln’s atheism – in fact, in his youth, he wrote a book debunking Christianity – and then burned the manuscript when friends pointed out that publishing it would doom his political ambitions.)
Amen brother.
When the alternative is a political party actively trying to hurt/sabotage the U.S. Obama would have to strangle a pretty white woman on camera in the middle of a public street and I STILL might vote for him.
I think Hillary would have been a fine president.
Still do.
With respect to a constituency, national government is theatre. There is a chessgame reality that exists between national leaders the audience is not meant to see, a parallel fabrication of which unfolds during the show.
NOBODY on this board knows the reality of the Obama adminsitration and its motivations. While WillFarnaby certainly comports himself as a bit of a paranoid CT, it is equally ignorant to counter his arguments and defend President Obama. All that can really be said of Obama is: He’s the POTUS and nobody else here is. If you think you can do a better job, get yourself the job. If a mulatto from an unprivileged broken home can do it, what’s stopping you? If a lower middle class stepson of an abusive father can do it twice, handily, what’s stopping you?
It’s a theatre. Get cast in the play or join the fan club you like best, but don’t pretend to know a damn thing about what’s going on backstage.
We could. We could be what’s going on backstage, and front, and in the audience. The tools lie before us, we only need pick them up.
Depending on which pretty white woman it was, it might make me even MORE inclined to vote for him.
I think that Hillary would have been a better POTUS than Obama, she’s extremely smart and ambitious. But Obama has been better than I expected.
Hilary probably would have been better, but the demoralizing effect of having only two last names in the POTOS for 24-28 years might have been a serious downer over any success she might have had.
Usually right into a camera, too.
My (adult) kids said the same. They liked Hillary but didn’t want another Bush/Clinton. Their entire lives and then some had been under either a Bush or a Clinton.
That being said, I think the ‘Clinton’ name is rising as people fondly remember and so maybe she has a chance in 2016. Hell, even the unbelieveably biased Kudlow of “The Kudlow Report” said he thought Clinton was a good president.
That’s not possible; Kudlow’s tongue would burst into flame if he ever uttered those words.
