President Chavez Closes Colombian Border

I’ll comment later. Right now, my bathroom is infested with flying purple monkeys.

Damn! These peace scares depress the value of my armaments stock!

The dude in the middle is the Dominican president. I suspect a few *frías were involved in the peace talks.

*Cold Dominican beer.

I really hate when that happens to me…

Chavez already got what he wanted. Appearing on the world media boasting his defiance and strenght, yadda yadda. Also he had a good excuse to move a lot of troops into the oil rich province of Zulia (bordering Colombia) that has an independentist movement called “Rumbo Propio”.
In any case, Colombia is one of Venezuelas larges trade clients, so it`s not good to get too beligerant… specially considering that Colombia has a much larger army than Venezuela, so it´s not wise to press the bluff too far.

I guess Chavez thinks he milked the incident for all the good he could get and now is back to business as usual.

Maybe all South American leaders and diplomats should take a lesson from that: Less cocaine! More beer!

(Marijuana would help things along still better, but that would bring Mexico into it.)

Uribe says he will ask the International Criminal Court to bring genocide charges against Chavez.

Ecuador is thinking of charging Colombia in an international court for staging a military strike inside Ecuador.

Tsk. I was afraid this would lead to war, but now it looks like they’ve decided to get really nasty and bring lawyers into it!
