I would think that in this day and age someone might try to injure or kill a sitting president by altering their food. If undetected, and I’m not sure how you can check every foodstuff for hidden toxins, it might be possible to end up with food that would be hazardous to eat.
I assume that any food for the President or his family would only come from heavily vetted sources, and that they would never bring foodstuffs into the White House from an untrustworthy source, but how can they guarantee that it hasn’t been tampered with along the way?
This is an old problem, and I believe in the past that food tasters were employed to sample food before it was served in order to ensure that it was good to eat. I somehow doubt that someone is paid to taste a president’s food, but perhaps there is really no better way to be certain. Does anyone know for sure?
