I realize under the Constitution of the United States, that the President can only run for 2 consecutive terms, but if he were to run for 2, (as Clinton did) could he than run for President in four years. It would be his third term, but only 2 were consecutive…/???
…and welcome to the SDMB.
This thread has come up several times in the past, and was discussed in pretty thorough detail there. You’ll probably find the Search function on this board useful - some folks can get pretty testy about people not checking it before asking questions. This thread, while not discussing exactly what you’re asking, gives some useful information.
To answer your question, the Constitution doesn’t care whether the terms are consecutive. If you check the actual wording here, a person can only be elected President twice, whether the terms are consecutive or not.
There are all kinds of bizarre scenarios by which, say, Bill Clinton could be run as VP and then ascend to the presidency - check the threads for details on those. But, no, Clinton (barring a suitable amendment) can never be elected president again.
