I was just reading this thread and somebody mentioned a rumor that LBJ was of Jewish descent.
Such claims about our presidents aren’t uncommon. Indeed, they’re not new either; after Lincoln’s assassination, Isaac Mayer Wise told the audience Lincoln had confided that he believed himself to be of Jewish descent.
I was just wondering, out of sheer curiosity, if anybody knows any of these claims to have been genealogically verified, i.e. a president did have a Jewish ancestor.
