…for foreign language film. The Portland Film Festival showed “Roza” (Rose), a Polish film set late in WWII in the Mazuria region of northeastern Poland. The link talks about the film and what happened in this region.
This is one amazing movie: relentlessly brutal and bleak, but full of pathos. Superbly acted, directed and shot. It puts American film of recent years to shame and if it doesn’t win the Oscar next year for FLF, the Academy members should be summarily executed.
If you can possibly see this movie, I strongly urge you to do so. It’s absolutely riveting.
