And playing stereos too loud at 3 a.m. I hope.
Cars are designed as a method of transportation. Guns are designed to shoot and kill. Any body who equates them is being illogical and should be ignored. It is an absurd and stupid comparison.
Not every gun is designed to “shoot and kill”… actually, why the fuck am I bothering? None of you are paying attention to what I’m saying anyway.
They are not paying any attention to what anyone is saying…
To be honest, I think we need more harsh sentences for just about any violent or potentially deadly felony, including murder, and make room for those people with significantly less harsh sentences for non-violent, non-sexual-abuse crimes. As committed as I am to 2nd Amendment rights, I’d be just as happy with the fools who choose to misuse said rights getting put away for good–as in my opinion, breaking firearms law implies seriously to me the intent to use said firearms for illegal purposes–read “shooting people”.
You’ll note I suggest this in the context of greatly expanding availability of firearms, including automatic weapons, to the general law-abiding public. shrugs I personally have no problem with extremely harsh sentences for people fool or evil enough to misuse something as potentially deadly as a firearm.
If it makes you happy, strike “mandatory life” and replace with “extremely harsh”.
I’d be just as happy to get rid of the drug laws while we’re at it and replace them with something along the lines of “Drugs are completely legal in the same vein as alcohol (age limits, etc); however, commit a crime with drugs in your system and get a triple sentence”, but that’s damn well another thread.
I realize it’s a Pit thread, you bloodstained cuntrag, but it would probably help to not taint one’s position with unnecessary hyperbole.
That’s arguably true. Probably also help if I don’t post after I get my everloving ass kicked in EVE so I’m pissy. But then again, it’s the pit, and that’s where hyperbole goes, ass-master.
… link the killmail?
~ducks and runs~
What’s your stance on liars?
Mod note: Posters are reminded of the following Pit rule:
"The following expressions should not be directed at other posters …
cunt and variants"
Your cooperation is appreciated. No warning issued.
Did you even read the analogy, or did you just see “guns” and “cars” in close proximity and fall back to tired old rhetoric?
I didn’t get killed, I just had a 20mil repair bill on my Vargur. =P Grumble station hugging war targets bringing buddies from ambush grumble.
You make it sound like a bad thing.
Guns are very effective & efficient tools for stopping threats. Which is why I own so many of them.
Because two guns will stop twice as many threats, four guns will stop four times as many threats, and a closet full of guns makes you damn near impervious to all threats, right?
Having a variety of guns is a good thing, as one gun can’t do everything. Some are good for personal self defense (e.g. high quality handgun), some are good for offensive measures (e.g. battle rifle), some are good for hunting (e.g. shotgun), and some are good for training and recreation (e.g. .22 handgun). Furthermore, if the time ever comes where we must (once again) protect our liberties in a mass-coordinated effort, I’ll have extra guns and ammo to give to people who don’t have any.
What’s so damn funny about this particular argument is that the people who make it automatically assume that all the other citizens with guns will be on their side of whatever “Fight For Liberty” they envision.
We don’t assume. We are *hoping *it’s the case. If the SHTF, and the vast majority of people choose socialism & tyranny over freedom & liberty, then there is nothing to fight for. I just pray that won’t be the case.
Cars and their operators are tested and licensed, and there are heavy restrictions as to what type of vehicle you may drive where and when.
I ask that you drop this idiotic comparison between the use of cars and guns, unless you either call for like restrictions on gun use, or the complete elimination of all driving laws.
You wouldn’t expect a man to only keep one saw in his toolshed, would you?
One man’s socialism is another man’s sense of community spirit and responsibility, and tyranny is sometimes in the eyes of those can’t get their way.
