He’s named as Prince Andrew, Duke of York. The royals don’t have surnames - Mountbatten-Windsor is a family name, but not strictly a surname. I imagine Harry’s visa says similar.
Not necessarily. The Firm tread a tightrope of public opinion - let’s face it, it’s really bloody weird to maintain a monarchy in this day and age, so they have to protect their reputation - it doesn’t speak to Andrew’s actual guilt or not. More to the embarrassment his court case causes the institution.
All in all, the solution to me is the Tower of London. It has long been used to lock up people who are offensive to the Crown. Set up a nice three-room apartment with excellent cable TV and let him never be seen again.
It’s possible. At this point I can’t see how. As far as I know there was no accusations of force on his part. Others that looked into the timeline saw that he would not be criminally liable due to her age because of the age of consent where certain incidents supposedly took place. In the sealed documents there may be proof that showed more happened in jurisdictions with a higher age of consent. You also run into issues with the higher burden of proof for criminal cases and possible statute of limitations issues. Just her testimony is unlikely to rise above reasonable doubt without other corroboration. It is possible that more evidence may come out but I this point my guess is the most he will face are civil penalties.
As an American I’m unhappy that Andrew is getting all the press but its barely mentioned that Virginia Giuffre was recruited by Maxwell while she was a 16 year old Trump employee at Mar-a-Lago and that she has accusations that are just as bad against Trump crony Alan Dershowitz.
Epstein and Trump were clearly friends and knew each other even before they both had property in Palm Beach within miles of each other. Now Trump claims to have been barely acquaintances but he probably met Melania through Epstein. It worked out for Trump that they had a falling out over money before Epstein was charged the first time so it gives Trump some plausible deniability about their relationship.
“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Mr. Trump told New York magazine in 2002. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
The year was 1992 and the event was a “calendar girl” competition …
“I arranged to have some contestants fly in,” Mr. Houraney recalled in an interview on Monday. “At the very first party, I said, ‘Who’s coming tonight? I have 28 girls coming.’ It was him and Epstein.”
Mr. Houraney, who had just partnered with Mr. Trump to host events at his casinos, said he was surprised. “I said, ‘Donald, this is supposed to be a party with V.I.P.s. You’re telling me it’s you and Epstein?’”
He was Colonel-in-Chief and other titles of various military units. That’s been stripped. Those are honorary titles and have nothing to do with the operation of the units but it is part of their history and tradition. Will those honorary military appointments be immediately assigned to other Royals or will they be unfilled for a while?
Yeah, the US does not issue titles of nobility but if in your own home jurisdiction that is how you are lawfully styled, that’s how you will be referenced in documents.
Just wondering…if the Queen were to go completely off her rocker and start claiming, based on ludicrously stupid arguments, that she still has the authority to rule as an absolute monarch…
There’s no question in my mind that Prince Andrew is guilty. I worked for the newspapers in Bangkok for many years, and his sexual adventures in Thailand were the stuff of legends among the press corps. He visited Thailand a lot, and I mean A LOT. Seems like he was always in town. As a, um, “trade representative,” or at least that was his story, and I guess he’s sticking to it. A randy old goat. He would keep this yacht right off the southern island province of Phuket in the Andaman Sea that was sort of a floating brothel.
Until you realize it’s pronounced “poo-get.” There is a story, probably apocryphal, of a Thai restaurant in NYC called Phuket that was made to change it’s name by the authorities.
