So they’ve got a more detailed cast list …and since the original Albus Dumbledore bit the dust, we’ve got a replacement.
Michael Gambon, anyone ever heard of this guy?
Micheal Gambon was the guy who got bumped off in Gosford Park. I’ve also seen him in a rather good version of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, it was part of a series of Beckett’s plays done by the BBC (I think).
I liked Richard Harris in the role of Dumbledore, but I don’t think Gambon will disappoint. I’m quite looking forward to seeing how he plays it, Harris did look very frail and I think Gambon will seem a bit more in control and hopefully slightly deranged (or am I the only one who thinks Dumbledore is brilliant but off-the-wall).
I thought that was “Prisoner.” Anyway, most of this is the same cast… Gary Oldman as Sirius? Obvious, I guess, but hey, he and Rickman can have an “I am the most apparently-evil red herring” contest.
I have.
He was the lead in one of the best drama television series ever, the unsurpassed the Singing Detective. He was also in Sleepy Hollow, as the guy who gets his head cut off… I mean, Christina Ricci’s father.
Michael Gambon was also in the the great Masterpiece Theatre miniseries, Wives and Daughters. He should make a great Dumbledore.
So it is “Prisoner of Azkaban”. Guess I am entitled to a mistake or two…
Oooh, can’t wait. Hopefully we’ll get something decent now that they’ve cleared Chris Columbus out. I see that Daniel Radcliffe is still Harry, though.
I kept wondering how Radcliffe could possibly portray an Order of the Phoenix Harry; the new sulky Harry is a far cry from Radcliffe’s earnest geek who’s impressed by anything magical that comes his way - even after two years at Hogwarts.
My wife is gonna be royally pissed off that there’s no Oliver Wood in this one…she thinks he’s a hunk.
