printing multiple pictures on one sheet of paper

I am looking for software that will allow me to print multiple pictures on one sheet of paper at one go. I would like to be able to select the number of pictures and position them on the page and/or have templates that did this for various numbers of pictures. All the print programs I have found allow me to print only one picture at a time.

Anyone know of software that does this?

I do what you’re talking about with CorelDRAW. You’ll need to have your images in a format that DRAW can import; it imports just about every graphics file format I’ve ever run across.

Also, if you don’t need sophisticated image manipulation, just to put the pictures on a page, you can do this in MS Word (I like this because it’s a program I already have on my computer). Just insert the images into a document; it will take a number of different picture formats. I usually have to resize the images to get them positioned right, but it works well enough for my purposes.

Thanks, I have CorelDraw on my shopping list, but it is a very expensive program.

Yes I too have done it in MS Word and also in Lotus Wordpro, but both of these are really meant for text rather than images. What I am looking for is a program that is specifically designed to print pages for a photo album. Someone must have come up with such a program by now, you would think.

Anyway thanks for your input guys

Speaking of the old Word for DOS days, yes it was meant for text processing, but in these days modern GUI and WYSIWYG document-processing software, they are pretty adept at doing what you describe. Why look for another program to do what you describe when what you have does it with little or no fuss.

[rant]This is what causes bloatware. I remember my first modern PC and its 32-bit OS, with pre-emptive multitasking and a full-blown GUI that fit on three gddmn floppy diskettes. double-density 880kB diskettes at that. And one of them only contained 256kB of data. [/rant]

Corel is expensive unless you get a used copy at Ebay.com

Try something from download.com Im sure they have numerous programs that can do just this.

I do very well with MS Publisher. It is reasonably flexible and allows you to import pics, art, text, almost anything into whatever are of the page you desire. You can even overlap them, or place text on top of a picture, or drag text & picture frames around until they are in just the right spot.

I don’t think it’s superior to the other apps mentioned, I mention it because it seems to be on every PC I see and might be more readily available. It came with mine as part of the prepackaged software bundle (Publisher, Works, Money & Encarta), but you wouldn’t know I have it unless you search because it’s burried in a folder called “Microsoft Applications”.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if it was a free download from their site. The download.com idea is often frustrating because you get 50 results for “publisher” and don’t really get opinions on what people think about any of them.

A quick search at http://www.nonags.com showed me Power Albums 1.54, which prints multiple images per page. I’ve never used it, but the Nonags site rates it 6 out of 6.

I use a program names “Qimage Pro”. It allows printing of multiple prints, and sizes, on one sheet of paper. It will automatically rotate the pictures to make the best use of the paper. When sheet one is full, it will automatically start another page. When you are happy with the pictures you’ve placed, send it to the printer.

The program also allows “filters” to be applied to each print on an individual basis.

For example, I can print 4x5 and 2x3 etc. all on one sheet. Just drag and drop.

When I bought our HP DeskJet 970Cxi, it came with excellent software for photo printing that does all the things you listed, plus more. I can’t remember what it’s called (I’m at work now), but you might want to try the Hewlett-Packard website. It was not a bundled software, it was made by HP.
