Prisoner of Azkaban

Thanks, Brutus, that part had slipped my mind. I’ve got mixed feelings about that movie, that I’d perhaps best not hijack this thread any further with.

Someone mentioned the breaking up of the larger movies into two books. At the lauch for the Chamber of Secrets DVD, David Heyman (producer) said that because preproduction was taking so long they might split the book into two movies. Ive since read that that idea has been shelved and it will be one movie. I cant remember where I read it though so I cant link to it, sorry!

Spoiler for Goblet of Fire
According to imbd.com, the Dursleys have been cut out of the movie completely due too time constraints, Richard Griffifth (Uncle Vernon) has said that the book will begin with Harry at school, does that mean no Quidditch World Cup?

Katie Leung has been picked to play Cho Chang
It was just an impression I had; it’s been a while since I read the two books, and I didn’t sit down and make a list of events. Having said that, I still think there’s a lot of stuff in 5 that could be removed. There are several incidents of increasing nastiness with Umbridge, but they could be condensed into fewer. Same with Harry’s dreams. The OWL’s are background. And so forth.

On the other hand, if Delly’s source is right, they are removing some major incidents from 4 that go a long way to set up the book, and I just can’t see that.

This is, of course, largely a matter of opinion (what can be cut and what can’t), so I think there’s plenty of room for disagreement.

Granted its imdb, and they have been wrong before, but anyway, incase you want to see the news articles for yourself, then thats the link
First of all, I have to admit that I was somewhat distracted throughout the movie by this ungodly obnoxious woman in front of me who wouldn’t stop conversing with her daughter about the movie even after someone else in the audience and myself had asked her to be quiet. Bitch.

Anyway, I liked this movie a lot. I think book three is easily the best of the series by far, so I had high expectations going in. I wasn’t dissapointed, really. It’s my favorite of the three movies and I had a good time watching it.

That said, I share a lot of the criticism in this thread, namely, that it was too rushed. Also, I hate the actor playing Lupin, and nothing he does will ever endear me to him. It’s not the actor’s fault or anything, but he looks absolutely nothing like I pictured Lupin to look like, and that alone is a huge let down for me; I think I’m going to have problems thinking of him as Lupin in all the future movies. I thought his werewolf form blew, too. I can kind of see what they were going for, but it turned out looking like some huge CGI Gumby-wolf.

I was also dissapointed that they cut out Oliver Wood. Firstly because it was his last year and secondly because, well, the actor playing him was really cute.

There is a LOT of erroneous information on that page, so it’s hard to trust any of it, really.
