GEO corporation, a company which builds private prisons, is buying the naming rights for the football stadium at Florida Atlantic University. <insert random joke about college athletes and their arrest records here>
WTF? OK, the CEO is an FAU alum and the company is located in Boca Raton, FL. But how can anyone think this is a good idea? Naming a football stadium after a prison company?
Even without all the allegations against GEO, this is the dumbest idea I’ve heard of in a very long time. The NCAA can’t possibly want an association with a prison company, even for all the $$$.
Besides, a prison company would be better off buying the naming rights for the Miami Hurricanes games!
