He’s just so good at playing the clueless comedic foil to whoever he gets partnered with. Possible exception for Truth & Consequences, his TNA-era teamup with Consequences Creed (I.e. Xavier Woods), which was actually a serious team-up.

  1. The Wrestlemania 37 weather delay

Just before the first match on Night One was supposed to start, an unexpected storm forced them to evacuate the reduced-capacity-due-to-covid audience into the interior of the stadium. To fill time, they spent about half an hour cutting back and forth between different interviewers while the wrestlers cut unscripted promos about the storylines they were involved in, including a memorable weather update where Samoa Joe stood in the downpour wearing a plastic trash bag over his suit. It was glorious chaos.

  3. Owen Hart vs. Steve Austin, Intercontinental Championship match, SummerSlam 1997

Owen broke Austin’s neck accidentally with a pile-driver, temporarily paralyzing him. Hart played to the crowd until Austin regained enough feeling to roll him up for the pinfall.

  4. Goldberg vs. Diamond Dallas Page, WCW World Heavyweight Championship, Halloween Havoc 98

The show went three-and-a-half hours, rather than the standard three and many PPV feeds ended at the 3-hour mark and during the main event. WCW aired the match the next night on Nitro.

Eddie Kingston covers Moxley with his own body to protect him from the puff of smoke. Announcers loudly act like some huge explosion happened. After a momentary silence the crowd boos.

  6. Chris Jericho vs. Neville WWE Raw, 3/14/16

Neville breaks his ankle during the match and can’t put weight on it. Jericho tries to roll him up to end the match but only gets a two count, so he pushes the ref and gets DQd. Good veteran move by Jericho.

“When a man’s heart is full of deceit, it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes a dark warrior. The purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. THIS. IS. STING.

(Side note: I always thought the too-sweet was just a variation on heavy metal horns, but according to Wikipedia it originated with Turkish nationalists and its display is banned in some parts of Europe because of its association with far-right groups, and the nWo came upon it because X-Pac saw it somewhere and thought it looked cool)

I vaguely recall Scott Hall referring to it as “the soundtrack from your favorite adult movie”, which is a pretty solid description. It’s actually a collection of samples from various Jimi Hendrix songs, which I didn’t know until just recently but explains why Hogan started using “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” as his theme the following year.
