This is truly a domesticated message board, so I will conform to this policy, sorry.
Well, there is a hefty price to having 0% defects in courtesy… but at least I have a quality message board to use.

I never said they MUST accept, I said they SHOULD accept.
Why do you think that people weren’t “always sneezing and sniffling” in previous generations? Today, we think a sneeze and a sniffle are health problems. But that’s because we don’t have any major health problems-- compared to 100 years ago.
In my great-grandmothers village (czarist Russia), every single family suffered the death of a child from measles/TB/cholera/etc. Whenever a woman gave birth, nobody cheerfully asked how much the baby weighs, they fearfully asked “did the mother survive?”. Their health concerns were about life and death, not a stuffy nose. So they probably sneezed and sniffled as much as your friend does–but thought it was nothing to complain about.
Also, your friend is unable to do his job due to sneezing and sniffling–but that’s because he works in a modern office. If he had lived with my great grandmother, he could have sniffled all day long working in the muddy fields as a serf, and nobody would think he is not doing his job “to his fullest ability”
Why wait around for botulism or Tuberculosis when hari-kari is always available? Go for it!
Your knowledge is flawed, TB is a horrible way to die over a long time.
This seems a rather odd response after declaring your “questions” to be infinitely complex as you did in your opening post. If one truly asks infinitely complex questions, one should expect multi-faceted answers.
After which, you were the one who raised the issue of tuberculosis to which I replied.
<mod>
flex, it’s not acceptable to wish or suggest death to another poster in the Pit, why would you think it’s acceptable in GQ?
Knock it off.

Heck with it, this is really GD material.
Take the discussion there.

I believe it’s seasonal affective disorder. “Affective” from “affect,” meaning feeling or emotion.
You didn’t post a General Question.
As to your claim TB wouldn’t be as bad as living to old age… I laugh at this. Spoken like a young, healthy man. If you had TB you’d be begging every doctor that crossed your path to save you so you’d have a shot at old age.
Try Claritin.
Try Claritin? Try this.
You know what, this site (GQ) is a friggin joke, I am fed up. No one knows how to think on their own, everyone gets offended, everyone is oblivious to the joke “needle in the ass”, conveyor belt healthcare system, no one wants to stop being ENTERTAINED by the message board for a second while they actually ponder the relevant issues of the day, no one wants to make a difference and test common knowledge, everyone is seething at the mouth for a chance to correct somebody’s meaningless error, and so on. Just admit it.
The Straight Dope will never make a difference with the things that matter, it is just a place where people’s asses get flatter from sitting in front of a screen, heads getting puffed up by knowledge. I bet it makes you feel really good when you get to point out other people’s errors, isn’t that the main attraction here? Top priority is to make sure no one’s wrong, while no one ever gets around to being right. Joke. End of Story.
Most of you in GQ are pompous and you know it, so keep it up. I can’t wait to see where it will take ya. Until then, keep “fighting ignorance” with your own style of sloppy ignorance. Popular opinion is the boat that so many people jump on, it eventually sinks. See if I throw out a line.
The first one in this thread to act offended was you. You have used your umbrage as a crutch to beat other posters in spite of several attempts by the Mod to get you to reconsider your manners.
We get lots of “brilliant” people through here who just “know” that they are smarter than the collected abilities of actual practitioners of medicine or other scientific fields. Generally they display a lot of ignorance and hostility and little knowledge or brilliance.
You may wish to consider that while you are on vacation from the SDMB.
