Problems with Google Desktop not Crawling Drives

I use the search feature of Google Desktop extensively at work, but recently it became useless. I would put in a simple keyword, and it was only bringing up gibberish files.

I uninstalled then reinstalled (twice), but now it won’t index any drives at all. It just sits there saying “crawl not yet started” on every drive, even though it’s been two weeks. It pretty much only searches my desktop, which is useless. Has this happened to anyone else? I haven’t found anything helpful on Google about it.

You likely know this already, but Google Desktop was discontinued last week.

Not that that explains your local difficulty, I guess.

Just because it’s discontinued doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work, though. It’s not like they intentionally broke it or anything.

Yeah, for sure. Time Stranger, have you re-added the network drives/folders in the preferences after the re-install?
