Well, I’ve been trying to install the free upgrade to OS X 10.1.5 so I don’t have to go to OS 9 every time I want to type in Chinese, and anyways the .pkg file that results looks just like a folder and the computer seems to think it’s a folder. Inside this folder is another folder called Contents. This seems to be the case for all the .pkg files on my computer. Why won’t my computer recognize these as installer files?
Okay, scratch that. I got it to treat it like an installer file. But installations are never that easy, no. Anyhow, my next obstacle is this: before I install this ugrade, I have to first ugrade my installer (ugh!). So I went over to apple.com, got the Installer Upgrade, and am in the middle of trying to install it. It has gotten to the “Select Destination” part of the installation, but all of the options are greyed out, including my hard disk which I should be able to install things in. I entered my password, I have plenty of space on my hard drive…I don’t see why I can’t select it.
