Ok, I bought Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Overlord yesterday, and in both cases the game won’t play after installing. I get a message from SecureRom saying “insert the original disc, not a backup”. The original disc IS inserted.
I did manage to work around it for Dark Messiah, I deleted the game, then entered my product key on steam. I was then able to download the game from Steam and it ran with no problems. However, I can’t do this with Overlord because it doesn’t have a product key.
Anyone know of a workaround for this? I seem to remember a thread where some people complained about the same issue, but no one posted anything about a resolution.
You bought the game, fair and square, and now you can’t play it. Either download a crack or just download a cracked pirated version. No worries, no guilt, you paid and you can’t play, ain’t securerom funny like that?
I feel ya. I got my stuff delivered yesterday so I can use my main PC again after I do a few upgrades to it. The laptop I was using until now will need to be reformatted since SecuRom on NWN2: Storm of Zehir has made the DVD drive unusable for practically anything but viewing movies.
SecuRom sucks. I won’t buy another game that has it on he disk unless its available for download.
Dark Messiah, I just uninstalled, then entered my product key on steam, downloaded it from steam, and ran with no problems.
I got Overlord working. Thanks for the help people!
In the future, I’m definitely buying from Steam when I can.
