Prodigy Children

I was wondering what info the SD-ers might be able to help me dig up about the impact of rushing prodigy children into adulthood (i.e.: in college by age 10-12, etc.) too quickly…and sacrificing various leisures of childhood and adolescence? For example, has any study shown they are more susceptible to suffer a mid-life crisis or “burn-out” from the pressures to perform? Are they more prone to nervous breakdowns, etc.?

This is just a personal curiosity of mine…

I can tell you that one way to screw them up is to bore them. Exceptional children can get into a lot of bad habits if they have to entertain themselves. I have seen kids who were genius IQ start to fail classes that moved too slow.

I never seem to hear about the super geniuses after 60 minutes does a feature on them. They must be kidnapped by the illuminati to foster their world domination and figure ou thow to put secret messages on our currency.
