Other than giving a company information about me as a consumer, is there any benefit to me by sending this thing in?
The only true benefit to you that I have ever seen is for product recalls. (Which only works if you haven’t moved, they actually decide to keep and use the information, etc.)
If you pay attention to the usual news and such, any serious recalls will appear. I get Consumer Reports which has a column devoted to recalls that I check.
Some companies won’t help you unless you registered your purchase. The main reason to do so is the the company can alert you of any problems. They also use the information sometimes when you need repairs, because the retailer has their information included on the paper you sent in. They rely on the data from the retailer to prove the day the sale was.
In many cases today, it is quicker and easier to register online, and saves the cost of a stamp.
In any case, if you want to, particularly for any product that might require tech support, just list your name, address and email. Ignore all those other questions.
