Professional pictures of pregnant women with minimal clothing - Is this mainstream now?

i just roflcoptered! What’s with the dog sniffing that half naked woman’s crotch?!

Heh. The woman with the cigarette, in the Roanoke Times picture–I was working a few blocks from there at the time. Rest assured, she got a raft of shit.

A few others are also not composed photos at all; not a straight comparison to the art-of-pregnancy shoots.

A few are obviously deliberate humor, no different than CitizenPained’s sib/sib-in-law (though with varying degrees of stagecraft).

And some seem like just sweet and sincere images of loving couples excited about impending parenthood; so they’re not the most beautiful people with the best design sense. (The parting of the clothes to show just the swollen belly always seems weirder to me than either normally-clothed or nude/semi-nude versions.)

If you’re aware of “Juggalettes,” there’s no need, or room, for any other explanation on that one.

The guy pointing the pistol at the camera? If not for her smile, it looks like a hostage situation. Is he “defending” her?

i personally have no problem with nudes myself but the type of photo described in the OP really icks me out. for me it’s not about the fact that she’s semi or fully naked, it’s about the husband and/or kids lined up kissing the stomach or just looking up in reverance like the woman is carrying the next christ child or something. ugh. it’s not quite the same but my brother has a couple of professional photos of my 8 month old niece (who i adore) that has her in like angel wings and stuff like that. i hate them. it’s the pictures we take at home, where she’s laughing and smiling and making funny faces that i love to see and look at over and over.

Well, I’ve never personally known anyone who who was the child of someone famous, so I don’t really know how they feel about everyone seeing their parent naked. I assume they must adjust somehow (I’m assuming the buckets of money would ease the pain), but I can only see the situation from the point of view of average non-famous people and their kids.

The private details of famous peoples lives often become public knowledge - eg., drug and alcohol problems, embarrassing incidents. I wouldn’t be comfortable with everyone knowing all those kinds of details either, but again you must get used to it.
