Profiling Muslims e-mail

I get a lot of pro-Christian and anti-Muslim emails from one particular associate and I usually send back pretty good rebuttals. Any thoughts on this one?:

We have a problem folks!

Some Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine America can suffer defeats without any inconvenience to themselves…

Absolutely No Profiling! Pause a moment, reflect back, and take the following multiple choice test.

These events are actual events from history. They really happened! Do you remember?

    1. In 2009, One US Army Recruiter killed and another wounded in Arkansas by: You guessed it, A Muslim > male extremist between the age of 17 and 40. (Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammed).

    2. Federal agents allege that an Afghan immigrant , 24 years of age, residing in the Denver, Colorado area was buying beauty supplies as part of a plot to make explosives for use in terror attacks, most likely in US transit areas in New York City. Another Muslim male extremist between the age of 17 and 40.

16… And now we can add: In 2009, 31 people wounded and 13 American Soldiers murdered on base at Fort Hood by a Major that was known as a: You guessed it - A Muslim male extremist between the age of 17 and 40.

 17. Again in 2009: A man tried to blow up an airliner landing in Detroit by lighting off a chemical bomb. Over 200 innocent people were on that plane.

Again, a Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40.

Somehow, the Cole was left out of the above, as was the thwarted bombing of LAX. More recently a thwarted bombing in TX, Thwarted bombings, who knows where when the Feds caught individuals smuggling explosives across the border from Canada. The list goes on and the common thread is: Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 & 40.

Does anyone see a pattern ? One that justifies profiling? Do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners

(TSA) are no longer allowed to profile certain people. We must be “politically correct” and not even say the words >Muslim and Terrorist in the same sentence.

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, people in wheel-chairs, little kids,

airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail,

85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner, and former Governor Joe Foss, and now Joan > >Rivers

but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

Let’s send this to as many people as we can so that the ACLU and other dunder-headed attorneys along with some Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves – if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story ‘Forrest Gump’ so aptly put it, 'Stupid is as stupid does.

I meant for this to go in GD. Doh!

For starters, the novel Forrest Gump didn’t win any awards, at least as far as I can tell from a preliminary Google search.

There is just no arguing with the common sense displayed by the OP, so don’t even bother trying, you opponents of rationality.

Just as a nitpick, but Sirhan Sirhan was Christian. He was raised a Maronite Catholic, and at the time he shot Senator Kennedy, I believe he was a Baptist.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with more profiling in our security, but it’s important to get facts right.

Fuckin’ babtists. When will we learn?

Let’s profile the Baptists first, and then the Muslims. After that maybe the Catholics. Toss in the Lutherans after that - never know what damage they might do with a lutefisk! And I, for one, have never really understood what a Presbyterian is, so of course they can’t be trusted. We just need to keep this up and eventually we’ll have all of our bases covered.

I noticed right off the bat that the list conveniently omits any mention of the Oklahoma City bombing. Probably because it was not done by “Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40”. I’m sure with a little effort someone could come up with a list of crimes just as long that were not committed by “Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40”.

Not that it would do any good. The sort of idiot that promotes this crap would just dismiss any rebuttal because it’s irrelevant to their agenda.

Well… it’s true that the majority of anti-American terrorist attacks are committed by Muslim men. That doesn’t take away from the fact that the vast majority of Muslims are normal law-abiding citizens, but it’s not likely the next suicide attack is going to come from a Presbyterian from Puerto Rico.

Pacific Air Lines Flight 773, Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 1771, FedEx Flight 705, All Nippon Airways Flight 61, and Aeroméxico Flight 576 were also omitted.

That’s not a nitpick at all, that is a factual counter to part of the email.

Just ask the emailer why he hates the Constitution. Profiling Muslims men would IMO opinion be a clear violation of the First Amendment.

  1. Well, John F. Kennedy wasn’t killed by a Muslim extremist. Nor were Lincoln or Garfield. In fact, no president has been shot by a Muslim, only by non-Muslims.

  2. The Lindburgh kidnapping (which led to the Federal Kidnapping Act aka the “Lindburgh Law”) and the kidnapping of Amber Hagerman (which led to the creation of the AMBER Alert system for the US and Canada) were not carried out by Muslims. No Muslim kidnapper has led to the creation of new laws in the US.

  3. The US Embassy in Belgrade was set on fire on Febuary 21, 2008 by people protesting US support for Kosovo independence. Those who assulted the embassy were Serbian Orthodox, not Muslim.

  4. According to the 'Missing' to 'Recovered': Finding Abducted Kids - ABC News, nearly 800,000 children go missing a year in the US. How many US citzens was that in Lebanon over a decade? Was it more than 2,000 a day? No? Guess that means your kids are safer in Lebenon, right?

  5. A Marine barraks blew up. Because nobody else has attacked Marines before. Ever.

  6. Again, this wasn’t the first or last time the US was involved with pirates.

  7. In this list List of aircraft hijackings - Wikipedia, only two of the incidents involving US planes being hijacked were by Muslims. It would seem that historically Muslims are safest people to have on your plane, as far as preventing hijackings goes.

  8. Sigh, more planes. I swear the anti-muslim bigots have a plane fetish. I think it’s the phallic symbolism.

  9. And McVeigh blew the shit out of Okalahoma City. And the British torched Washington D.C.

  10. Now its just getting repetative. We already covered Embassies. Not every embassy attack ever was by Muslims.

  11. And this would be the second incident of Muslim hijackers. Least we should be done now. All the rest were by Cubans or white Americans. (Fun fact: only a couple were by Cubans. White Non-Muslim American males win this catagory by a large margin.)

  12. Why the hell is this in the past tense? Aren’t we still there? We also fought wars against Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and The United Kingdom. We fight a lot. It’s kind of our thing.

  13. In 2009 US journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee were detained and sentenced to 12 years in work camps by North Korea. North Korea is not known for its Muslims. Not to mention that he covering the war of the previous entry.

  14. Oh, this one was in the US. There’s no figures for 2009 yet, but in 2008 16,272 people committed murder in the US. Picking one case out of thousands is not exactly playing fair. I’m pretty sure I can find a murder by just about any race or religious creed you want.

  15. Oh hell. Now the people don’t even have to be proven guilty for this thing. Because no non-Muslim has ever been arrested for consipracy in the US.

  16. And during the Virgina Tech Massacre in 2007 32 people were killed and many more wounded. Seung-Huo Cho was not Muslim. Nor were the people who killed 12 and wounded more at Columbine.

  17. The plane fetish strikes again. Isn’t it majestic the way they thrust into the sky like that?

If we’re going for racial profiling, it’s not the Arabs we need to worry about killing us. It’s African Americans. In 2008 36.5% murderers were black. Of course, whites aren’t exactly falling behind. They come in at number two with 32.8% of all murderers.

And if we want to discuss non-lethal violent crime, white folk are the big time winners. 58.3% of the total. And shit, but whites win the property crime award too, with 67.4%. And racially motivated crimes? Oh you better believe it’s whitey for the win here. White-Collar crime? Hell, it’s named after us, of course we win!

Statistcally, the people who send out these emails are far more likely to hijack my plane, beat me up, and steal my stuff than anyone else. I demand that they be stopped and searched any time they show their pasty white faces in public!

I’m fudging a bit here, but don’t let that stop you. The US Census counts Arabs as white, so they’re included in those numbers. But there’s no way the people who send these kind of emails will believe that Arabs are white. Or that most US Arabs identify as Christian (63%) not Muslim (24%)

For interest’s sake, I took a look at terrorism on wikipedia, and went to the “lone wolves” site, simply because I figured I’d get clearer demographic data, versus “Columbian Maoists funded by American anti industrialists and supplied by the IRA”. I was simply trying to avoid ‘groups’ and spending the rest of my life tracking down the players in every act of terror ever. I’ve listed the name, age, ethnicity, religion where available, and motivation for the acts of terror for all the examples.

From Wikipedia’s list of ‘lone wolves

Timothy McVeigh (26) Caucasian, Catholic, white supremacist / anti government.

Theodore Kaczynski -the Unabomber - (36) Caucasian, presumed non-muslim. Anti-technology, etc.

Eric Robert Rudolph - Olympic Park Bomber - (30) Caucasian, Christian Identity/Catholic. Anti-abortion, anti-gay.

Ali Hassan Abu Kamal - Empire State Building Shootings - (69) Palestinian, presumed Muslim.

Buford O. Furrow, Jr. - LA Jewish Community Centre Shootings. - (38) Neo-nazi.

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar (22) Iranian, Muslim, attempted to run people over with an SUV in North Carolina.

Naveed Afzal Haq (34) Seattle Jewish Federation shooter - Pakistani, converted from Islam to Christianity.

Scott Roeder - Murdered George Tiller- (51), Caucasian, Anti-government, anti-abortion.

Abdulhakim Mujahaid Muhammad - Little Rock Recruiting Office shooter - looks 18-20, and African American, is a Muslim Convert

James von Brunn -88- Holocaust Museum shooter. White supremacist, Holocaust denier, presumed non-Muslim

So, for this group of ten, we have:
Seven within the age range of 18-40, 3 that are older.
Three of middle eastern ancestry, 6 whites and an African-American.
Three muslims. Four if you want to haggle over Naveed Afzal Haq, but then you have to reassess Abdulhakim Mujahaid Muhammad. Five non-muslims.
Five far-right antigovernment/anti abortion/christian identity / neonazi types.

In fact, as far as ‘Muslim Male Extremist 17-40’, you get two, one of whom is a black guy, which is going to be tough to profile, and one guy who tried to squash college students with an SUV.

However, if you want to profile “White male 17-40 on the far right fringe” you get 3, including McVeigh and the Olympic Park Bomber.

Interesting exercise. My apologies for any errors.

In 1954 four people fired automatic weapons inside the House chamber of the United States Capitol. This group was made up of:

a. Minnesota Lutherans
b. Puerto Ricans (Christian)
c. Little League
d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

Answer: B! Link. They also tried to kill Truman in 1950.

Puerto Rican terrorist group " the FALN was responsible for more than 120 bomb attacks on United States targets between 1974 and 1983."

If a group of people snuck into the US Capitol and started popping rounds off at Congressmen, or almost killed the President, I think the media would make a Big Brouhaha about it. Or…

1994: Guy tries to fly a plane into the White House. White.

1994: Guy walks up to the fence and starts shooting rounds at the White House. White.

2001: Guy walks up to the fence and starts shooting rounds at the White House. White.

2005: Guy in a crowd of people throws a grenade at the US and Georgian Presidents. White (ethnic Armenian).

The current President has had five assassination threats or attempts. White, all of them. Including the one where they’d wear top hats.

Shit, there’s also Reagan, Carter, Ford One Two Three. White.

In 1974 a guy tried to fly a plane into the White House. Sean Penn made a movie about it. In 1960 a guy tried to kill JFK by turning his car into a suicide bomb! You guessed it: White.

The entire list of United States presidential assassination attempts is fairly WASPy.

The thing about almost all of those is they’re not really terrorists so much as lone crazies. But the Fort Hood and the recruiter-shooter guys are on there, so I guess that means mine are all fair game.

Glad I did my swearin’ back in post #6.

He’s right, we should be profiling, and religious affiliation should be a valid profile characteristic. If someone is Muslim they SHOULD be looked at more closely. We could avoid so much unnecessary bullshit if we’d just accept this simple fact. Instead we’ve decided to go to war in two countries, which is far far far worse than profiling Muslims.

Yes, it’s a little bit late to be worrying about stepping roughshod over their feelings.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t an either/or kinda thing.

But anyways, how do you tell if someones Muslim?

Um, if we started profiling Muslims what makes you think it would have kept us out of Afghanistan and Iraq? And what is profiling them going to accomplish, except create enemies where there weren’t before?

Touch pork to them. They spontaneously combust at its touch. Sort of like vampires.
