Progressive Apologism for Islam: why?

No. Go to hell.

Nice hit job, leaving out the context and the rest of the post.

Well, OK, it was a pearl of crazy nestled securely in a context of stupid, taking up a couple of pages in the multi-volume series Really Bad Ideas.

Nah. You go around cherry picking polls and mixing them with isolated events and then claiming that your calumny is true of “Muslims.” When facts are presented, you dismiss them or move the goalposts.

You have never seen me or anyone else whom you label a progressive or liberal on this board defend Wahhabism. On the other hand, your whole history, here, has been one long defense (or promotion) of the sort of people in Christian or secular North America who would be quite happy to deny rights to LGBTQ people, using dishonest phrases like “homosexual lifestyle” to make their points.
You have studiously ignored evidence that Muslims who have moved out of the M.E.N.A. region to secular societies have adopted the mores of those societies, a phenomenon that indicates that it is local culture, not religion, that promotes the sort of thing you now claim to oppose.

I have not even defended any belief of Islam, only pointing out the errors often lodged against it. Your misuse of the word “apologist” makes you an apologist for Joe Paterno.

If this is your idea of sane, you are far from it.

  1. What does this do?
It does not stop home-grown converted idiots from being swayed by the rhetoric of hate. In fact, it gives those who preach hatred more ammunition, because they can point to oppressive laws and claim that “the West” is evil.

  2. This is the sort of nonsense that the GWB administration used to keep Farley Mowat out of the U.S. It is not workable, to begin with. (Who is going to have the time or money to vet all those people based on tweets or Facebook posts if the applicant does not give up their username? Would it take one week or three weeks before web sites pop up to tell future applicants how to answer the questions to make them look presentable?)

  3. And apostate is not a “moderate Muslim” and your belief that such a claim has any bearing on reality demonstrates your failure to understand real life. I read a lot of criticism of my church, but i pretty much ignore the bullshit spewed by “spoiled priests” or “recovering Catholics.” Why would any Muslim turn to an apostate for information?

  4. I suppose this is legitimate, although I would prefer to see intelligent force applied rather than brute force.

The problem isn’t so much that they hide, but where they hide. They hide among the innocent, the civilians. This approach means that innocent people will die. Which is not only immoral, it is also stupid. You kill two enemies, you recruit ten more.

As others mentioned, the rest of your post was also stupid. The context of your entire post is nothing but your prejudice. But, hey, you can one-up it by implying again that I’m not a good American.

“Limiting Muslim immigration” isn’t sane because of the practical matters alone. How do you do it? Quiz everybody who comes in? Shut off immigration from countries known to be majority Muslim? What do you do if they claim to be Christians escaping persecution? And after that? Institute a national snitch line to report brown people going into mosques for investigation for lying about their religion? Do you deport their American born kids too? Require them to send in affidavits on where and whether they practice any religion?

Does anything about this idea sound practical, never mind legal or moral?

Inexplicably?

No, in fact I was highlighting your bigot game of cherry picking various bad points that are prevalent or dominant in certain countries and smearing all of the Islam and the majority of the muslims when you are in fact picking out things that are either only true in Saudi Arabia or the tribal areas of the AfPak region…

What can we expect from the sort of disgusting bigotted idiot who will because he likes a footballer defend against all evidence child molestation.

And so?

Contrary to the bigotted idiots this only says people desire a moral basis in law, it is no different than your beloved conservatives in the USA thinking of God’s biblical law as inspiration.

What does the Sharia mean to the person - is it the Sharia interpretation of the Malekite Sunni in the Sufi tradition of the Tijjani. Or the Hanafi etc.

Bigots like to waive this flag, but their WikiTheological learning is nothing more than the bullshit bigot sites cherry picking and asserting as well the Salafiste vision as the real vision.

Of course your ideal American era was the America that burned black americans alive for transgressing the social norms or for the crime of their skin color.

(Never mind that only in the Saudi Arabia is anything like a direct law from supposed Sharia applied, in all other countries there is constitutional law - but never mind, the hateful bigots want to promote a vision that the Islamic world = Saudi Arabia + the tribal regions of the AfPak and of course ignore any comparable level of development comparisons in their program to demonize the Other and justify their aims to justify discrimination.)

The double zero fetish with the Communism… it does not cease to be bizarre. The Communism is responsible for Transgenderism that so disturbs him.

And of course it is more than clear that the pretension that he is not about absolute outright hatred of muslims is nakedly undermined by “Islam is communist savagery” - no he is full of racialized fear and hatred as we already saw in that bizarre thread about the American president Obama.

(Palestinian Islam terrorists is so funny given the origins of the Palestinian nationalist movement and its particularly terror versus direct combat oriented wings in the Orthodox Christian Palestinians… but for the Double Zero he is not concerned about facts, only disgusting fact free narratives of hate)

What a surprise, the distorted citation to the hate sites promoting hate and bigotry.

As it is, it is transparently clear to any muslim that these people are using the failed façade of concern as a bad disguise for hatred and bigotry and deep quasi racial hatred.

No “concern” of theirs convinces me of anything than the intolerant irradicationist of all minorities tendencies of the historical european past are not far below the surface.

Trump has the whole Muslim immigration problem well in hand, simplicity itself. Make America a place that no Muslim would ever want to live in. Easy-peasy.

And if they do* claim* that they want to live here, we know they are lying, and are probably terrists.

more terror in the name and cause of Allah. Let’s hear what some more liberal excuses are, both for the terror and for importing more large amounts of Muslims here.

And interrupt your gloating?

As I noted early in another thread, you are not too bright too huh?

I think you need to stop using a lot of straw men to do that.

"Speaking by myself I do think like the atheist that said that maybe we should drop a lot of leaflets with Bertrand Russel’s musings about religion in the middle east. What you and many right wingers see as support of the radicals in reality is support for the vast majority of Muslims that are not using Islam as a call to do war or terrorism. What I do believe is happening is that many on the left do assume that most intelligent people already knows that we also hate the terrorists.

Sadly, many on the left are wrong (to assume that). Many on the right are just not that bright. "

We should admit more Muslim immigrants, because they work harder, create more jobs and commit less crime than citizens born here.

And here you are, making up stuff, again.

Rahami has made no claim that his actions were in the name of Allah.

Besides that my point has been that ISIS and other terrorists do know that from those Muslims a very sizable number of Americans that know about the culture and the language will grow up to be part of our military and intelligence groups.

Not going to play their game that attempts to undermine the American armies of today and tomorrow.

Anyone who acts for a jihadist or cause, as now its been uncovered Rahami did, is in the name of Allah.

[/QUOTE]
We could also admit more non-Muslim people, like most Indians and East-Asians, who are smart and hard working but far less likely to commit terrorist evil Muslim jihad. You know, winners, not losers?

If I hadn’t made this thread, I’d pit Islam itself; its an oppressive death and un-American cult and gets protection from the left that no other religions get bc of the BS “colonial racism” narrative.

According to ISIS. Why do you support ISIS talking points, you cowardly bigot? According to patriotic Muslims who aren’t cowards like you, terrorism is a disgrace to Allah.

You can continue to trumpet your cowardice and bigotry for all to see all you like, and we will continue to call you out on it. What a disgusting and pathetic person you are, at least according to your posts. Thank God you never tried to serve in the US military, coward.

By the way, Derek, if you’re still sad and lonely in your personal life, it’s not because of your height. It’s because most women don’t want to date cowardly bigots. If you want dating success, be a better person.

Where has it been “uncovered”? I have not even seen that claim made in the extreme Right wing media, yet.

It is true that he has visited the Middle East, (from which he immigrated with his parents). That is not the same thing as proclaiming a jihadist cause.

What has been uncovered has been that he is a member of a family who has had a number of conflicts with neighbors over events associated with their place of business–events in which their opponents frequently resorted to Muslim-bashing beyond the actual conflicts involved. This would suggest that he has overreacted out of the same frustration and perception of intolerance that prompted the shooter in the Dallas police attacks, not out of a sense of jihad.

You are simply promoting the tired old story that a nutcase who is Muslim is driven by Islam while a nutcase who is secular or Christian is just a nutcase.
