Project X plotline: how often has it been done before?

I saw Project X last weekend. I thought it was very entertaining, even if I don’t feel the need to see it a second time.

The premise of Project X is that a high school kid’s parents go out of town over the weekend. He and his friends decide to have a few other friends come over to his house. The party starts getting out of hand as more and more guests start showing up, and eventually the house is trashed.

The same thing happened in Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan, and there was a Wonder Years episode where the same thing happened. I would guess it’s been done dozens of other times. Are there any other movies or TV shows that revolve around this plot?

I don’t remember parents even being mentioned, but Can’t Hardly Wait is pretty much set completely at a party that gets pretty crazy.

There was an advert for the Yellow Pages in the UK with this premise, after the party the kids clean up and discover a huge scratch in the antique mahogany table, they find someone who can fix it [via the Yellow Pages], and order is restored, only for them to realise someone drew a beard on a painting - just as their parents come in the room
