Surely most of you who gave your pronunciation of “processes” as either
PRO sess ez or PRO sess eez
meant that first syllable to rhyme with “bra” or “rah” rather than “crow”, did you not? If I’m not mistaken, PRAH sess is the norm in the US, while PRO sess is common in Canada.
That’s so interesting since all the americans I know pronounce Oregano as ‘O-reg-AH-no’ (i’ll cite William Shatner in Star Trek: Generations as an example) whereas all the Brits and Aussies I know pronounce it as Orr-eee-gah-no. I’m in the latter category.
