Pronunciations even experts disagree on

Hmm, note to self: bring razor and scotch tape on date.

Darn. And up to now I’d decided you were the female of the budding couple. That’ll teach me to associate cats with women.

The flower catalogs I buy from always tell me that the vine is a CLEM a tis but everyone I know calls it a clemATis. And whereas I tried to use the ‘proper’ pronunciation a few times I find that I no longer do so. Makes me feel a bit snobbish or something.

I tell people was born on the 2nd of Feb.

As an aside, it’s seems it’s also common in conversation to shorten January to Jan
(I’m going on holidays mid-Jan), but no other months.

Born on the 2nd of Feb? ?

It’s pronounced “GROUND-hogz day”

I feel like it’s fairly common to shorten Sep and Nov, maybe even Dec? But I’m not too sure if my memory is influenced by jargon usage in the financial markets in reference to futures contracts.

I would have said I never hear any of them in conversation, but Jan and Feb somehow sound less weird than all the others to me, so I’ve probably heard those two, but not the rest.
