I just finished 8th grade so cut me a bit of slack but what is the significance of 2.72?
In higher math it is a constant which is the base of the natural logarithm.
Take enough advanced math classes (trig) and you will learn to loathe it.

Not number related, but today I needed to explain to a developer how a problem in our code could be used to facilitate an SQL injection attack. Instead of going into loads of detail I just posted a link to this XKCD cartoon into our bug tracking system.
