I have a question I want to ask writers about the references they use when writing. At first glance, this would seem to go into Cafe Society, but since it’s a “What’s your favorite …?” type of question, it seems IMHO is more appropriate. So where in general should I post these types of questions when it’s more about the creation of art than the art itself?
I’d still go with Cafe Society. It’s a very low risk choice, though. If a mod disagrees, they’ll just move it to another forum for you, no harm no foul.
I agree that Cafe Society is the best place for this. And Oakminster is correct: if one of the other mods thinks it belongs somewhere else, it will just get moved to a different forum with a redirect.
-Marley23, Cafe Society mod.
Another vote from a Cafe Society mod that that would be the appropriate forum.
I vote for putting it in the “Ask a writer a question” forum.
Huh?
Our forum divisions are not clear cut. Most forums are defined by the type of question:
- Seeking factual answers: General Questions
- Looking for opinions: IMHO
- Sharing info: MPSIMS
- Venting: The Pit
Our exceptions are Cafe Society and the Game Room, which provides some overlap. A question of “Who played the police commandant in CASABLANCA?” could go in GQ since it’s asking for a factual answer, or could go in Cafe Society since it’s about a film. We’re pretty loose about it. My personal feeling is that “What’s your favorite ballet [or whatever art]?” would be best in Cafe Society, but you certainly wouldn’t get any demerits for putting it in IMHO.
