Props from movies you instantly recognize

War of the Worlds, 1950s version. As I recall, there was repetition of that “circle divided into three parts” motif in the aliens’ ships, etc., that caused (one of?) the scientists in the movie to deduce that the aliens had one eye similar to their sensor stalk.

The guitar’s from Purple Rain, ain’t it?

The Jacob’s Ladder & other various lab equipment from the various old Frankenstein movies?

[Groundskeeper Willie]

I see that I didn’t go quite deep enough in my search for Johnny L.A.'s reference site. Be amazed at all you can find at Internet Movie Firearms Database
There may be others, but if you’re into weaponry, there’s a lot there.

Bingo.

Quatermass and the Pit, or 5 Million Years to Earth?

Granted, but the other ones were just too easy. The bracelet does figure into the plot of an Oscar-winning film, though, so it’s not exactly obscure.

The thread is “props you instantly recognize,” though, not “guess the movie this prop is from.”

Men In Black - “The Universe on Orion’s Belt,” right?

ETA - nm, asked & answered

Hows about this?

ETA: :smack: How did I comletely miss pages 2 & 3?!?!?!

Here are a few more word pictures:

  1. a can of Dapper Dan pomade
  2. a bag of Huggies
  3. french fries with mustard
  4. a dime novel called “The Duke of Death”

5 Million Years to Earth- the Q&tP television serial was in black and white.

Hey I would instantly recognize it, but I am kind of a movie hound. I am very surprised that no one knows it. I figured someone would get it.

Damn you , Spoke! I recognize that prop, but I cannot remember where it is from and I am stuck at work so i can’t look it up. Now it will bug me until I can get home!

  1. O Brother, Where Art Thou?
  2. Raising Arizona
  3. Sling Blade
  4. Unforgiven

Another hint: the bracelet is hollow and made of glass.

Farscape - John’s contribution to the absurd.

No Country for Old Men.
