protectionism and globalization

So I’m sure most folks here have been reading the news and public speeches by the government how we are being transformed into the 21 century of globalization. I find it contradictory when we still have protectionism when it comes to the TV ,radio and communication that serve the purpose of protectionism /nationalism to preserve local interests.

After talking to some people and reading more on this protectionism it is growing on the internet now has Yahoo , Google ,Bing and youtube are starting filter my IP address.

I can see where local news and finding restaurant or fast food in search may be useful but I feel there is growing preserving of local interest like the TV and radio. One can check online music streaming and TV streaming and feels effects of protectionism.

I just find it contradictory when the media and government talk about how we are being transformed into the 21 century of globalization and yet protectionism is still here and growing now on the internet.

This was not way it was 5 years ago on the internet and not the 90’s .Not how the people who set up the internet dream how the internet was to be.

For there to be true globalization all commerce bust be free for it to be globalization , of diversity of products and goods and service for the consumer.
So what really is going on and why is the media and government contradictory of what they are saying.

This post would probably serve better in the Great Debates section that talks more about this stuff than here.

It would help more if it made any fucking sense.

Be that as it may, I will move it to Great Debates.

What protectionism is there on the web?

Well, I can’t watch Hulu shows since I’m in Canada. That’s kind of annoying.

Canadians get annoyed? Ignorance fought!!

Is that really protectionism, though? Those rules are set up by the copyright owners as part of their business strategies, not states. It’s nothing to do with states imposing tariffs or otherwise discouraging people from buying imports.

Like anger, we’re slow to it.

That would be FCC in the US and CRTC in Canada that dict take that all communication like TV ,radio , broadcast ,print so on must support not only state but even local interest and culture .

This probably why satellite provider and cable provider can’t cross from country to other.

If there is music streaming on the internet or broadcasting ( movies or TV shows ) on the internet FCC in the US and CRTC in Canada have step in. Has it is broadcast of media.

Keep in mind that was just a guess - I don’t get the point of your OP, either.

Than I read it wrong and don’t know what globalization is.
