With the hullabaloo over selfie sticks of late I am wondering about a description of an Asian lady (I think Japanese) using a selfie stick I think I read in an older book, either a novel or a Bill Bryson-esque travelogue. Sorry I am so vague, I just could swear that the book described a lady going around taking photos of herself with the aid of a long stick in museums and galleries. Anyone have a clue what I am talking about. It may well have been in one of Bryson’s books but I have read other similar travelogue type books too. I can’t unfortunately recall when the account was from, it may have been 1980s or it might have been a lot more recent.
