I have a Blackberry (9760 - Style). I just got a new lithium ion rechargeable battery. I’ve heard different things about the proper procedure to use for a new battery.
I put the new battery in this afternoon, plugged the phone into the wall, and it’s been there for about three hours. The icon shows fully charged, but I’m planning to leave the phone plugged in all night.
On the last new battery I had, I read somewhere that after the initial charging period, I should let the battery run completely down before charging it. That didn’t work so well-- it seemed to me that that battery never did hold a charge very well.
Then I read that the LI batteries “love to be topped off” so don’t worry about plugging it in to recharge at any point. I don’t know about this. I often have to plug my phone into the car during the day to recharge.
I feel like all the batteries I’ve had cease to hold a charge very well after only a few months. I do access email and do some web surfing (like on this BB). Blackberry has some battery maximizer apps, but as near as I can figure, all they do is tell you if any apps are running in the background so you can close them. I’m VERY careful to close programs so almost nothing is running in the background. I always close the browser, Twitter, stuff like this. I don’t have any other apps, except a weather bug thing. No music at all.
I want to maximize battery life with this latest one. Any tips appreciated re charging, etc. Thanks.
