Providing Salesmen Wireless Access via Laptop - Recommendations, Experiences & Advice

Laptops: Check
VPN Client Licenses: Check
Everything Else: Still Up In The Air

Trying to provide my NYC-metro area staff of four ‘on the road’ salesmen with access to our company’s server from their Windows laptops while they’re off site and unable to plug in. From what I can see, we have two possible routes we can take:[ol][li]Accessing the internet by connecting their laptops to their Nextel Wireless Phones - or - []Installing wireless network cards and getting a wireless ISP.[/ol]From my limited knowledge, the latter choice is the preferable one - it appears to be the cheaper and more practical solution. Our SonicWall & Static IPs put security issues on the back burner and I prefer the staff not tie up their phones dialing up thru their Nextels. A little google shopping brought me to EarthLink Wireless Enhanced Access for your Laptop - where for a $299 Aircard & $20 per month per user - We should have everything we need.[ul][]Are there any other wirless solutions I’m totally missing?[]Nothing’s ever this simple - What am I missing?[]Nothing’s ever as inexpensive as it seems - Do Wireless providers have a bait & switch trick I don’t see?Earthlinks coverage looks perfect for my area - Are they reputable?[/ul]Any of your observations, advice, recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated.[/li]
Thanks

The gotcha is from $19.95/mo. That price is for 10 MB of traffic per month. For me, that’s about a day’s worth of email alone.

Their unlimited service is $80 per month and there are a few other traffic amounts in between.
