I see many threads where someone asks for recommendations for ps2 games in certain genres, followed by endorsements for several different games. I haven’t seen any threads for games that people didn’t like. I have limited ps2 experience, keeping mostly to tried and true faves like Madden 03 and the GTA games, so my list of games I hated is pretty short.
My list of sucky ps2 games:
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon - impossible interface coupled w crummy training missions.
Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter - bouncing camera and terrible controls.
Seek and Destroy - what did I expect for nine bucks?
Rune Viking Warlord: It takes 5 minutes to load up, it freezes all the time, it’s framerate is god awfull, it’s full of glitches, often at times the camera falls to your feet while looking up so that 75% of the screen is convered by your characters back, and the only way to solve this is to reset the game and wait for it to load for another 5 minutes, it’s controls were iffy, and the cutscenes moved at 2 frames a second. Worst game I’ve EVER played, and I’ve played a hell of a lot of games.
Hell, I used to know a guy online who had 9 lockers full of games, and he agreed with me when it came out on it being the worst he had played.
Gundam Journey to Jaborou: This is bassicaly a very very stripped down Armored Core game. A friend gave it to me for free. I could see why after playing it for 5 minutes.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Think about that for a moment. 75% of this movie is people sitting around talking about their relationships in Chinese. That just screams “Game concept,” doesn’t it? Now consider the fact that this game wasn’t greenlighted until a full two years after the movie was out of theaters. Awful, awful, awful game. I know a guy who was one of the project managers, and he can talk for hours about the incompetence of the team they hired to make the game. It’s hilarious.
Ephemeral Fantasia is pretty bad. I’ve seen better looking N64 games, no joke. The horrible graphics would be forgivable if the story wasn’t so boring and repetitive (you travel back and forth through time, attempting to stop the Big Bad or whatever) and the voicework wasn’t so grating.
