Whenever she sees that my legs are bare, she chases behind me and wraps her claws around my calf, and proceeds to chomp away behind my ankles. HARD.
Psycho cat.
But I still love her, nevertheless.
It’s her one year birthday today, actually. I got her a party hat along with some catnip playthings. Maybe some of her other psycho kitty friends will want to come over for some cake.
ok - the image of that had me laughing so loud I woke Smokey up. I asked her “do you want to play tommy-gun?” she looked at me and turned around and lay down with her back to me.
Smokey and I play “kitty abuse” with the extra long “feather duster” toy she just adores. I’m in my La-Z-Boy and she’s on the ledge of her cat tree and I wave the thing around and she goes nuts - she loves it
As for trimming claws - I tried that once. Once. Now (if I can catch her so I can get her into the carrier) we go to the groomer - or the vet does it during her annual
As for petting - if Smokey does not want to be pet, first she’ll whine (ma! leave me alone. I’m trying to sleep), then she nip (then lick to make sure I know it’s with love) then if I persist (which I will foolishly do at times) she’ll swat. The back of my hand has crosshatching (that’s an exaggeration, but you get the idea)
My cat Raven is pretty cool, but our game is Attack the Toes. Sometimes when she’s at the foot of my bed (and I’m feeling masochistic) I’ll wiggle my toes and she’ll pounce on them and start biting them as if she’s caught a mouse. She’s also pretty cool about taking noogies too.
My sisters cats’ name is Tickles (somebody was being sarcastic). Once she will came and sat in my lap and I was petting her for a couple of minutes and - WHAM - she sank her teeth into my hand and drew blood. She does it to everybody. I’ve stayed far away from her ever since.
Some cats just play harder than other cats. Jim’s cat’s play includes biting and clawing (not hard, but she often draws blood), and my cat’s play never does. I understand the fighting while you’re trimming her claws, and petting does seem to get cats overstimulated some times. My cat lies on my stomach every night, purring away while I pet her, then she just jumps up and bolts out of the room mid-purr.
I guess the best I can offer is keep teaching her who the boss is, and hope she mellows out.
