PT (our poster, penultima_thule) seeks medical intervention

Glad you hear you’re getting better. Hope that continues.

Thank you for the very kind thinkings above.

Progress has been incremental and continued. If I had my arm in a sling you likely couldn’t tell the impairment … apart from, well the sling!
My neurologists reckons I can get out on Friday. The OTs want me longer as in-patient (before a few weeks as out-patient). That’s now scheduled for Tuesday. Reasonable chance of getting a Gate-Pass for an afternoon out. Am hoping for a chance to hear a band on Friday (Pavlov’s Dog) night. As probably one of the fittest patients in this rehab centre I feel a bit like a freeloading fraud.

And I found my health fund want’s me to pay an excess on discharge …$250.

Best wishes for a continued recovery. I’m glad you are in a country with universal healthcare, and not navigating the insane system of private insurers we are subjected to here in the States. My Medicare insurer, along with three other major Medicare insurers, pulled out of my state and dropped me and thousands of other patients. It’s up to me to locate some alternative, or I will be on the hook for thousands more in healthcare expenses, should something unforseen occur.

OK, well the first couple of medical stage are complete.
Have been discharged and now settled back home.

Bit of rehab work still to be done but incremental progress will get it done.

Glad that it’s progressing, and you get to take care of the rest of the steps at home. Is it all self guided, or does a PT (snerk, yes, physical therapy this time) specialist supervise or at least check in on your progress periodically?

My wife recently had a very unpleasant experience with Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and the PT was highly effective for her condition. She did the Epley maneuver at home as well, but it just went a lot better with the PT supervision.

Just make sure you get the help you need to recover as completely as possible, and all my best wishes for a fast and complete reccovery.

Since he was here 3+ years ago, hopefully it is indeed a coincidence!

Sorry to hear of your most recent adventure!

We’re hoping to visit your half of the globe in 2028. Hopefully that won’t mean I’ll have a stroke in 2031!

I’m really glad that you’re getting excellent care, and recovering well. Sending lots of good vibes for continued recovery!

I’m sorry you had the stroke but relieved you’re doing so well. I hope you’re getting lots of pleasant company and support along with the excellent medical treatment.

Yes, I’m in an out-patient PT/OT program for the next several months, two days a week.

PT physiotheraphy isn’t so much. In this case PT would be more concerned that I have the core/lower body strength so as not to fall over.
OT occupational therapy more focused on rebuilding pathways for finer motor control skills for the fingers/hand/arm. Those tricks of the human trade you taught your pre-schoolers.

Yay! twice, for characters.

Maybe not … it was only 2 years ago !

I believe it. The Epley maneuver depends on the alignment of the semi-circular canals in you ear, which can be slightly different in different people. It’s hard to feel when you’re in the right positions when you do it yourself. The PT, however, can see your eyes twitch when they hit the sweet spot. At least for one of the positions, they can.
