Punny character names

Speaking of parody names my personal favorites from Sesame Street are Placido Flamingo, Meryl Sheep and H. Ross Parrot.

The Riddler from Batman, Edward Nigma, or E. Nigma.

Wile E. Coyote, of course, and I saw a cartoon with his father, Cage E. Coyote.

Nitpick: Dr. Chicago was in the George of the Jungle segments.

“Steal track, Commissioner! Steal track!”

“Yes, George. Steel track is what makes it ride so smoo-”

CRASH!

The only punny name I can think of right now is E. Nigma (The Riddler) a major villan of Batman.

Two posts above yours.

The second Banjo-Kazooie game, Banjo-Tooie, for the N64, had a pig character named “Chris P. Bacon”.

And Post #46.

Whoops. Missed that.

Before the Arthur Curry identity was established, Aquaman used the alias “C. King” at least once.

In the Batman TV show, the mayor of Gotham was Mayor Linseed and the governor of the state was Governor Stonefellow. At the time, NYC’s mayor was John Lindsay and the state governor was Nelson Rockefeller.

rofl of course what makes it funny is the guys who make the witcher series also owns GOG.com* I wonder how many people don’t get the joke …

*GOG.com is a website that retrofits classic pc games for modern systems and sells “indie” titles also and has a anti DRM stance …

What was he looking for?

<rimshot>

In the 1966 Batman movie, the Penguin used the alias “P. N. Gwynn.”

I don’t think that’s right. There was a brain in a bell jar labeled “Abnormal”, and Igor grabbed that. (Recall that this was his second choice of a brain, after dropping the first one he took.) Being a bit dim-witted and minimally literate, he mis-read the label as “Abby Normal”, and reported it as such to Dr. Fronkensteen, who realized (a little too late) that the label had actually read “Abnormal”.

I think it’s possible that **Clothahump **was joking.

That was the joke. Igor took a brain labeled “Abnormal” and told Dr. F. that it came from someone named Abby Normal.

One of my favorites, because it is such an ordinary, believable name that it takes a moment for the joke to sink in, is Detective Tanner in Angie Tribeca. (He’s black, of course.)

The protagonist of the webcomic Erfworld is named “Parson Gotti”…which is an anagram of “protagonist”.

Heh…

Hamilton Burger on Perry Mason?

It was years before I realized that Arthur Curry, King of Atlantis = King Arthur.
