alphabetical order

D’oh!

That’s not the answer I had in mind, although well done for coming up with an alternative answer that works. (Or is the correct word “alternate”? No, I think “alternative” is right.) The intended answer is a more familiar phrase than that.
All of the answers are familiar phrases. Well OK, one of them is perhaps not exactly an everyday phrase. Although it is an every day phrase.

VY (6,7) Hollow Victory

If these were in a cryptic crossword, we’d at least have some letter clues. I’m not getting any sparks on the remainders.

Yes, none of the remaining clues employ mechanisms that have been used in the ones that have been solved so far (anagram, removing end(s), removing centre, etc.) Although, a mechanism that someone suggested for another clue is in fact used elsewhere.

ECLI (7, 7) - partial eclipse

OK, it’s been nearly 48 hours without response, how about giving us some letters for the reaming clues, Ximenean?

Here you go:

CRET (11, 7)
-----N----- --R----

TH (3, 3, 4, 2, 4)
–E — ---- -O ----

If necessary I will reveal further letters, including for the other two remaining clues, in due course.

The man with no name?

“THE MAN”, take away N, A, M, E, leaves TH?
