Q about FB "Suggested for you" algorithm

The last few days I’ve noticed I’ve been getting a lot of rightwing MTG-level crazoid propaganda. There’s nothing about my feed that would point to this as something I’m interested in

And these posts include no means of reacting to them, which even advertisements have.

Any clue why FB would be pushing rightwing disinformation on a rabidly progressive feed? Or how to do something about it?

I’ve never seen a post where I couldn’t at least Like it, so I don’t know what is happening there.

But do you still see the three dots in the upper right corner? You should be able to click on that and choose “Hide post See fewer posts like this.” That’s what I have used to get that stuff off my feed.

Lol what good would liking it do me?

And, but those options are not offered.

You were the one saying you couldn’t interact with the post. I was addressing that aspect, as that seems fishy, like maybe the post isn’t coming from Facebook at all. Hence I wasn’t sure if my advice on how to get rid of posts you don’t like would work.

If that feature doesn’t appear, I’d start looking into malware scans and adblocking.

Different platform but I watch a lot of left wing videos that “own” the Rs on YouTube. Most of it Huffpo style videos. I’m not proud of it. It’s just a guilty pleasure. But lots of times I’ll have videos show up on my feed of Rs “owning” the Libs.

As @lissener states, there’s nothing in my viewing history that would indicate I would want to watch something like that.

My theory is, people are tagging it in a way that makes the algorithm think this is something @Grrr wants to watch.

Or they know hate keeps eyes on the screen and they are just trying to piss me off.

Your viewing history indicates you’re interested in politics. Youtube doesn’t care which side.

The opposite of “love” isn’t “hate”. It’s “indifference”. And you’ve indicated that you are not indifferent.

Facebook definitely does, I imagine Youtube/Google does as well.
