Apparently there are metallic alloys that don’t meet the technical definition of either crystals, quasi-crystals, or glass. A recent article about these “q-glasses” states that

One possibility, he said, is that the q-glass is the first example of a 3-dimensionally ordered configuration of atoms that nevertheless possesses no symmetry.

“Such structures have been theorized by mathematicians, but never before observed in nature,”

I wanted to look up what these hypothetical structures are, but couldn’t find the right search term. A search for q-glass just leads me to copies of the same article without explaining what a structured but asymmetrical configuration is.
