I’ve seen quite a few listings on eBay for DVDs from Asia (usually China or Hong Kong) that are selling quite cheaply. The listings swear up and down that these are not pirated copies - they apparently are legitimate copyrighted discs with the English language soundtracks. I want to know what the deal with these is. Why are they selling so cheaply? Is the quality inferior? Anyone ever bought one?
I’m sure they are pirated copies, despite what they say in the listings. EBay is full of pirated CDs from Russia, too, which also claim to be legitimate.
I don’t know about what’s selling on EBay, but a friend of mine brought back from Hong Kong dozens of high quality english language dvds and video games for pennies, several years ago.
So, it’s possible, but not likely.
Yeah, they’re pirated. They range in quality from crap to okay to sorta good. It’s a crap shoot, really, if you want to go that route.
