You know how you will be reading a thread and some people will post thoughtful, subtle expositions on the topic at hand, and others will post just moronic bumper sticker grade idiocies?
It is almost as if there are two (or more) threads happening side by side. Person A posts a well worded bit on how they can see both sides of say, a debate on abortion, but they themselves are “pro-choice”, then person B posts an equally well worded bit on how they can see boths sides but they are “pro-life”.
Meanwhile you get about 30 posts from complete mouth breathers on both sides who live in the land of make believe where anyone who does not agree with them 100% is evil and blah blah blah, lots of spelling mistakes, blah blah blah. Or they totally miss the point altogether and will post some impassioned randomness that makes you wonder wether they were home schooled by bags of sand.
To be quite honest I tend to fall into the latter camp as I tend to PBT (Post Before Thinking), but that is not my point.
Sometimes I wish that there was a filter (maybe that sounds snobby and closed minded), so you could just read the erudite informative stuff (although some of the “less abled” posts are hilarious). I will sometimes actually learn something about the world or even myself while reading some of the threads here. I really like the fact that people, often of disparate backgrounds and views, can sometimes actually have well informed discussion or debate.
Anyone else find themselves (guiltily) wishing for a post quality checker? I realize how elitist this sounds and obviously I wouldn’t want to limit who posts what, this is more of a ping to see who has had the same thought.
