Queen (the band) kick ass

Magic!
The segue from “Tenement Funster” to “Flick of the Wrist” is just perfect.

Another fan checking in. I, too, saw that same 1982 tour where Billy Squier opened. IIRC, he was some sort of one-hit wonder who had his big hit out at that time. I remember a lot of kids going batshit crazy over Squier and leaving (!) after his set. Dumb asses – but it worked out for me and my friends (all high school kids at the time ourselves) and we went up to the stage and spent the whole show right there at the front. Hell, I think Freddy slung sweat on me at one point. He was fascinating to watch; he was everywhere all over that stage. In contrast I distinctly remember the bass player (sorry, the name slips my mind) standing in almost the same spot the entire show. Best damn show I have ever been too. Even beats Pink Floyd “the Wall” tour I saw from roughly the same time period. Well, barely.

So, any “fat bottomed girls” gonna check into this thread?

I’d consider myself a moderate Queen fan, but although there are other singers I personally like better I think Freddie Mercury was undoubtably one of the most talented rock vocalists ever. I’d even go so far as to say he was one of the most talented vocalists in the field of popular music in the last half-century. I think it’s unfortunate that many people now remember him more for his flamboyant life and untimely death than for being (as a friend of mine put it) a “freakishly gifted” singer.

I mean, DAMN, that boy had some pipes on him!

John Deacon.
Yeah, what is it with stationary bass players? Deacon. . . John Entwistle. . . the guy from Judas Priest. . . there must be something about the instrument that brings out the inner wallflower in a Brit.

Bill Wyman!
John Paul Jones!

Holy cats, Moody’s stumbled on something of monumental proportions. . .

I saw Queen live 6 times. I made a pest of myself at their fanclub headquarters on my trip to London in 1983. (I won a trip to Europe and chose Paris because I spoke fluent French at the time, London so I could buy Kate Bush singles and visit the Queen fan club.)

The new We Will Rock You show Premiere’s at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas in September. It’s an interesting futuristic storyline. I hope they found someone good enough to do Freddie justice though.
