Queer As Folk: New Season Premere Tonight Of Final Season!

And not a single thread to remind me?!

Almost missed it, and am taping it now as I type this. I believe it is being re-broadcast again tomorrow (Monday) and again next Saturday. The first episode is 1 hour and 45 minutes long, for those planning on taping it.

It is the final season and though I agree with some who said last season sucked, so to speak, I am still interested enough to see how this final season wraps things up.

So, is anybody else still watching this show?

I would have been, if someone had posted a thread to remind me. And I was just watching Showtine yesterday, including a huge long promo for the new season, and it never mentioned the date of the premiere!

I watched the season premier and the show seems to have lost some of its charm. It saddens me to see so many of the characters at each other’s throat. If they can wrap up the series with everyone being friends again, believably, I’ll be mighty impressed. I don’t want a sad ending; no one moving away or dying or not being friends.

The only exception I’ll make is for Ben – he can die violently for all I care. Can’t stand him, never could. He’s a dick.

Meh. I stopped watching after the middle of Season 3. I think I saw part of one episode of last season.

So what’s this all about? Is there a new season, or just a replay of last season?

It’s a new season, and the final one.

::: halfway through the season opener bump :::

I’ve heard some spoiler’s for this season’s plotlines:
*The gang will have a problem, try to enlist Brian’s help, call him an evil selfish prick when he refuses, but then in the end he will save the day

*Brian will win a homophobe’s lucrative advertising account by homoeroticizing it and appealing to the gay market

*Michael’s fixation with Brian will cause problems in his relationship

*Emmett will find great success being his fabulous self

*Ted will be a nebbish

*Justin will continue to pout over gay issues while proudly abstaining from acting talent

These aren’t confirmed, of course (although the appearances of Cyndi Lauper and Rosie O’Donnell are [I think Rosie plays the football player Emmett was in love with last season- the original guy got a job doing *Othello* or a toilet paper commercial or something]).

Yes it is a train wreck. Thank heavens I have the original british series around here somewhere. They had the brains to kill off their Ted character, and give him some dignity. Still I just can’t turn away…

Actually I liked the threads they’ve kicked off in these first two episodes. Even though they continue to storytell in a manner that would make Samuel F.B. Morse himself shudder ("Hey Brian, look at all this extra money…and look, your favorite bar needs a cash infusion…what will happen next?) I’m still entertained enough by it that I’ll keep watching. Supposedly the theme of this season is “growing up.” I can see the custody battle shaping up into a major bloodbath.

And then there’s, you know, the eye candy, which at least in the first ep seems to have been kicked up a notch or two.

Anyone know how many episodes there are this season? I think it’s been something like 18 the last couple of years.

I think that the show jumped the shark some time ago. Still, I like seeing the familiar faces (although Ben and Justin bug me as well). I am glad that the movie didn’t work out and Justin came back though. The whole comic book subplot was getting pretty stale. Melanie and Lindsey are pretty depressing to watch now. Too much venom.

It does appear to be more graphic this season already. The opening Emmit shot was kind of surprising.

Overall, I’m not expecting too much from this season. Just a nice fun wrap up to bring some closure to everything.

Heh heh heh…

Will continue to watch, although the Gay couple with the kids, and the happy little neighborhood with other happy little Gay couples with happy little kids, on a street that looked like it was filmed on Wisteria Lane, made me want to vomit.

With any luck, Michael and Ben will be run over by a bus.
