Dammit, I want to be a straight guy!! (if only so I can have Kyan rubbing my head like that… mmmmm)
Watched the 10pm eppi (Butch), and about half of the 11pm one (the monobrow guy)… the show is funny as hell!! Everyone seemed to be genuinely having a good time with the process, and although the fashion guy may have been pushing the envelope a bit, I didn’t see where any of the “consultants” were over-the-top. I loved the scenes with the Fab 5 in the loft, watching Butch to see if he followed all their advice. The only thing that would’ve bugged me (and this is a kneejerk thing for me) is I would’ve gone nuts with everyone touching me all the time. When they brought Butch back to his apartment and everyone was mussing up his hair, I just yelled at the TV “Stop it!!! His hair looks FINE!!”
Can someone tell me how the Adam episode ended? Did they successfully tame the monobrow and that hideous excuse for a living room?
You can have Kyan when you pry him out of my cold dead hands. You slagged his show before it was even on the air so you don’t deserve him. Kyan knows I was here defending him and the rest of the Fab 5 before anybody, and he will reward me with his sweet sweet love.
OK, shit, that sort of slid over the precipice into Scarytown, didn’t it?
They tamed the wild unibrow and the living room was gorgeous. The wife turned out to be sort of a bee-yotch, though. She didn’t like the foie gras recipe (she made a face and chugged some wine to get the taste out of her mouth) which devastaed Ted the Food and Wine Guy. She whined at Adam about going to a dry cleaner from now on. Oh, and Carson the Fashion Guy said the new Dirtiest Thing On Television, after she got the earrings. She said that they matched her necklace and Carson said “And who doesn’t love a pearl necklace?”
Okay, foie gras is a bit of an acquired taste, but to make a face and chug wine? Bad, bad form. How could she purposely upset Ted?? He’s such a sweetie! (and he can cook!) She was obviously lacking in the smarts department anyway- how can you not know that those toys belong outside? “I thought they went in the living room!”
I love him. Love, love, love, love him. His “Holy daycare center, Batman!” was funny, as was the panic over not being able to find any shoes in the closet, but this… this is Too Much. He is my new hero.
I watched it not expecting to like it and I really did. I wish they’d take the time to give this queer brother a makeover.
I think it’s ridiculous the way people are swooning over Kyan, though, because
HE’S MINE HE’S MINE AND YOU CAN’T HAVE HIM! DIDN’T YOU SEE THE WAY HE LOOKED STRAIGHT AT ME IN THAT SCENE WHERE HE WAS DOING BUTCH’S HAIR?! LEAVE US!
I wonder what exactly the “Culture” guy is there for? Does he give dance lessons or such?
When I heard the pearl necklace line I wondered “I wonder if he meant for that to…”, but I’m guessing he did. My favorite of Carson’s lines was “show the man on the doll where the bad man touched you”.
Adam’s wife seems like an ice-queen. I think if they’d changed her husband into Kyan she’d have just sneered. But the job they did on Butch should qualify for a Federal grant- he looked like a defendant in a hate-crime suit at the start of the show but was a muffin by the end, and yet still looked like himself.
BTW, LOV-ING the little blips (e.g. “Checks and stripes work together” or “If it isn’t garnished, it isn’t finished”). I revoke with apologies my earlier criticisms; my hope is just that it spawns a host of copycats and one of them is near me.
I loved the little clip at the end of the first episode where the food guru talks about the kitchen blowtorch. I was just stunned that such a thing existed, for one…
Oh and was anyone else completely shocked the first time they saw the Orbitz gay travel commercial? At the beginning, I expected it to be the guy oggling some girls (the typical one is reversed). When they showed the guy oggling another guy, I nearly wet myself with glee.
Here’s the schedule for upcoming episodes and repeats. Episode 102, Adam, is on again 7/19 at 6 PM and 2 AM and 7/26 at 2 PM and 6 PM (all times EDT).
I knew it was coming. Commercial Closet sent out an email alert about it and I’d seen it before during another show. Still OK to have it. It’s currently scheduled to air only during gay-themed programming, though. We’ll call it a win when it airs during “mainstream” TV.
And I am telling you all again, step off my sweet sweet Kyan or the next queer eye you’ll be looking out of will be the transplant after I’m done scratching yours out.
I liked Carson at the end when they were watching the party and he kept saying, “She so wants him.”, “She wants to say, 'Take me in the bathroom and have sex with me!”
The food guy I didn’t get. He showed Butch how to make cheap pizza. SFW?
And I’ll have to watch the next episode to see which one “Kyan” is. As a straight guy, the whole concept of “the cute one” just kind of passed me by.
