QueerEye backlash

OMG, kung fu lola YEP!!

Wow. Half-incoherent and she still (barely) passes the Turing test.

We need to update that thing, really…

I’m not sure, but I think that was an attempt at an anti-gay statement.

Does anyone here speak gibberish. We may need a translation.

Calm down Laurie. Lay off the caffeine, focus on one thought at a time, and perhaps try again so that you might properly be flamed for your ignorant statements by people that actually understand whatever the hell it is you’re trying to say.

Hey, Laurie! Did it ever occur to you that the index case(s) of AIDS might have been hetero?

Also, Laurie, Sex is not the only way AIDS is spread…

The only reason so many homosexual men contracted AIDS is because anal sex is more likely than vaginal sex to result in direct fluid exchange into the bloodstream (through small anal fissures) I am not saying AIDS can’t be transmitted through vaginal sex - it can too!

However…

The hemophiliac population ended up with a high percentage of AIDS cases because of the tainted blood supply.

And the IV drug users who shared needles and gave it to eachother.

And people in the medical community who were infected by patients.

AIDS can be asymptomatic in the body for more than a decade… So there were a lot of people carrying the disease for an awfully long time before people started getting sick.

And since they got a variety of opportunistic infections it was difficult to pinpoint that what was really going wrong wasn’t an epidemic of pneumonia but of an immune weakening virus that made people more susceptible to pneumonia (for example)

People died, and are still dying, because of a virus. I cannot believe for a moment that any of those people made a choice to die slowly and painfully.

I hope I posted clearly enough as your previous rant leads me to hope English is not your first language and you were merely having a small problem expressing yourself.

How in the hell does it matter one flying pigfuck where the index case of AIDS came from? If they were gay or straight, does that indict either gays or heteros?

One (or multiple) unlucky persons got a shitty disease. They spread it to other people through sex, needles, transfusions, what have you.

How is their sexuality at all relevant? Gays sleep with gays, heteros sleep with heteros. Both gay and straight promiscuous people have sex. Both gay and straight promiscuous people would have spread the disease had they been the index case.

Is this not clear, or am I missing something?

Um, Windwalker, I was like, you know… Spilling the wind from Laurie’s sails. You kinda missed the point.

Ugh. This makes me so MAD because that’s exactly what so many homosexuals actually want, and you’re here making fun of it and acting like that attitude is wrong.

Eat me.

Somehow, I don’t think these coalition people drink a lot of amaretto anyway.

I’m surprised it took this long. The religious nuts protested the film “Finding Nemo” because one of the cast members was gay. The character wasn’t gay, and you don’t even see the woman on screen because it was an animated film, but just a member of the cast being gay was enough to get the Baby Jesus crowd up in arms.

“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” actually SHOWS gay men on the show. I’m surprised the fundies haven’t picketed the production office.

Whatever happened to searching before starting a new thread?

Yea, I know, Tranquilis, sorry if I seemed to be directing my anger towards you! I hit “quote” as soon as I felt the urge to post, and was playing off of your post but really responding to Laurie.

Well, you see, apparently gay people cannot be part of decent society. Any hint of acceptance in any way would imply approval of their behavior. They are to be shunned, shamed, and reeducated until they see the light and turn from their lifestyle, which they obviously chose, because, y’know, constant harassment and discrimination is worth the sex, which is so clearly better than heterosexual sex that everyone’s doing it these days.

Shameful, ain’t it? :stuck_out_tongue:

You SHOULD HAVE SAID that the AIDS virus was caused by George W Bush.

You see, as a little boy, he used to pull the wings off of homosexual houseflies.

This was noticed by the Tralfamadorians (you know – the GRAY aliens – they see everything here)

UFO Abductions? Yep – the Grays working on how to create AIDS – all inspired by little George W. (They arranged it for first his father, then him, to get in power).

You were almost right, Laurie, you just didn’t take it FAR ENOUGH.

This notion that homosexuals have something to do with AIDS is EXACTLY what the Tralfamadorians WANT humans to believe!!

:stuck_out_tongue:

The really funny thing about this, to me, is:

Because if she would actually watch it, she’d quickly see that the fact that the guys are gay plays essentially no part in the show. It’s not like they’re shown kissing each other, or holding hands, or anything else. They’re makeover gurus, who just happen to be gay. But they don’t do anything different or act any different than the (presumably straight) makeover gurus on “What Not to Wear”. I’ll admit that I was a bit turned off by the title of the show, and didn’t watch it until someone I know kind of “forced” me to watch an episode. I’ll admit now that I enjoy it. Anyone who could possibly find offense in the (non-existant) “gay” aspect of that show is just off their rocker.

Now, if that coalition wanted to go after a blatantly gay show, why didn’t they pick on “Boy Meets Boy”? A dating show for gay men, that actually showed two men (gasp!) kissing! And even worse (in Ms. Millam’s eyes, surely), it actually featured straight men pretending to be gay!

Gosh, I guess only “gay” shows that are hits are offensive.

Well, that’s taking it a little far, now. It IS called “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” The stereotypical contrast of gay vs. straight is a part of the show. It’s in the friggin’ TITLE, which is a major part of the show.

Having said that… why, why, why am I not surprised that this imbecile hasn’t watched the show? I mean, what is it about these people? Isn’t “I Want To Protest A Book/Show/Movie I Haven’t Even Read/Seen” an internationally recognized symbol of stupidity? You would think they would at least lie and say they HAD watched it just so they wouldn’t look like such transparently ignorant numbbrains.

looks around… this is the pit right? good

Laurie: I want to marry you just so we can get a divorce and I can call you my crazy ex-wife.

That’s some funny ass shit you posted. Keep it up.

No,. really. I mean it. Keep posting like that.

snicker

What was Laurie FAILING to say?

No, it’s not taking it a little far, and no, the title is not a major part of the show, it’s just the title. And again, no, the stereotypical contrast of gay vs. straight is not a part of the show, at least the ones I’ve seen so far.

Look, as I said before, I was initially put off by the title. I had no desire to watch a show about a bunch of gay guys. Then I actually watched it, and what I saw was that their “gayness” is just totally irrelevant in the show. Two or three of the guys talk and act in the stereotypical gay way, but that’s it. the actual content of the show, what the “fab 5” do, what they say to the straight guy, what they teach him, how they teach him, what they do for him, what they have him do, NONE of that has anything to do with the fact that they’re gay. It’s not like they teach him how to be gay, or try to turn him gay, or even show him some “secret gay” tricks of the trade.

The show could equally well be done with five straight experts, or five women experts, or any mixture of experts, and the content of the show would be the same. Sure, the fact that the five are gay is the gimmick of the show, and that gimmick plays on the gay vs. straight stereotypes. And I’ll grant that, probably, the show wouldn’t be as popular if the experts weren’t gay.

My point was that their gayness plays no part in the actual content of the show, and therefore it was just stupid of the protest group to pick on it; they show their ignorance (in more ways than one) by picking on the show because of its title rather than because of its content. There is, other than the voice and mannerisms, no “gayness” in the content of that show!
