Question about Dark Tower VII and Black House

So, I held out until the final Dark Tower was released so that I could read the last three at once. (Considering that my well-meaning but misguided brother got me WotC last Christmas, I am pretty darn impressed with my willpower :stuck_out_tongue: .)

I finished WotC and just now finished SoS - loved both. So I’m reading the old SoS thread and notice that some posters mention some connections with Black House.

I haven’t read Black House yet, but I have it on my bookshelf. Which one should I read first? I really, really want to keep going with the last Dark Tower, but if I’m going to be missing out on some major references then I’ll put it down and read Black House instead.

Advice? Thanks!

Read The Dark Tower first.

I agree with Munch. The Black House is a related story, but not in any critical sense.

Thanks, y’all! DT VII it is then.

If you’re going to read Black House, be sure to read The Talisman first. Black House is a sequel to The Talisman (my favorite King book).

The connections are minor, and more fun if you read the dark tower series first and can then find the stuff in his other books.

The Talisman ranks only slightly behind Dark Tower and The Stand as my all-around favorites. I was not much older than Jacky Sawyer when I first read it, so I connected pretty strongly with the story. (In fact, he might have been my first book crush! :o )

I’m looking forward to Black House but man, I sure didn’t want to stop reading about Roland et al! I’m trying to force myself to read slowly but that’s not working out so well.
