If I buy a McDonald’s reloadable card in the US, can it be used only in the US, or any place there is a McDonald’s?

Dumb question, but I want to sent a child overseas a gift, and I know the country they are in has McDonald’s.

I doubt that they would work here in the UK and there are better ways. The best and probably the cheapest way would be to send cash. You could buy the appropriate currency or send US currency bills for them to exchange. No one would notice a couple of $10s inside a card.

Is it possible to buy the gift card in the country where you want to send it to?

Buying a dozen Big Macs, freezing them, and sending those over wouldn’t work?
